My hubbie and I have a big glass jar on the kitchen table, every evening we put our cigarette money in there. It's great, cause you see all the money saved, and when we like to buy something we just take it out of the jar. I vote for a dog, only if you're around most of the time. We have two big dogs, and I couldn't imagine my life without them. Be careful what breed you pick and bear in mind it is expensive owning a dog! A cat is a lot easier! Today, I'm going to buy teeth whitening stuff. Small thing, but it will be nice to have whiter looking teeth. Hi Fish, We moved into a new house a little while ago and there is so much to be done but no money to do it. Now that I have so much more money I'm renovating one room at a time. I've nearly finished my daughter's room with ripping out the old, ugly, built in robe, sanded the floor boards, sanding the walls, got new curtains, got a persian rug (a small one), new paint etc. All I have to do is actually use the paint on the walls and then it's done. Yay. All in all it's cost me about $450.00 which is still less than I've saved by not smoking. I vote for the dog, or maybe a cat? There are lots of sensational MP3 players out there - it doesn't have to be an ipod. I've heard that sumsung do a really good one. Do your research on the net & then get one from ebay. I love ebay. But definitely get yourself a pet to love. We all need more love in our lives! And a cold wet nose is a wonderful alarm clock. he he he cheers alison :) Kick the Herb to the Kerb My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 57 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,710 Amount Saved: $712.5 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 1 Mins: 56 Seconds: 50

Fish, I just did the new SUV reward for my 100 days. This will probably be my biggest reward in my quit but then again I get to remember it is my reward every morning I get in it to go to work. In my opinion on spending 300 on a Ipod is a perfect reward. Look you have saved over 1000 by not smoking and you should get something you really want. Then every time you use your Ipod you will be reminded of your great accomplishment. I also do small rewards all the time. Its just not the same as somthing we really really want or need. Just do it!! I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. Fish - life is short - yet the IPod and indulge yourself. YOu will LOVE it. I just have a little shuffle but don't know how I got along without it, it rocks (literally). And get the dog too! N2K , *hello* if ya don't mind a recommendation as well ~ you'd be much happier with a Dell ~ I had a Presario - not so good. Hey fishoutofwater - Rewards really just are so important (it took me some time to figure that one out, and it is making a huge difference for me on this Quit journey)... OK - for my 100 days I rewarded myself with a brand new LCD 32" Flat Panel Hi-Def TV for my bedroom, wanted one of those for a while - and love, love, love it! Every night after a long, gentle and nurturing bath (another of my daily rewards!) I head into my bedroom and there it is! That reward reminds me how well I'm doing - how special I am - it changes the energy and just Lights up the room and Lights up my spirit:) I also have a mental list of rewards I really, really want... When I am feeling down, or feel a shift in energy that throws me off center, it's reward time - last time that happened (couple of weeks ago) I bought myself some new floor mats for my 4runner - the SUV is fairly new and now the mats are newer and have the great smell ::))) My next big reward will be a trip to my fav place in the US - Malibu, CA... NOW - that's a reward:) Have you looked on eBay for a new I-Pod? I find so much on eBay these days and if the seller has good feedback - well, go for it... You are worth it - And a dog? What a fantastic reward!!! That's a reward that will give and give 24/7 - I'm voting for the dog :) Blessings and rewards!!! :) Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 128 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,509 Amount Saved: $595.2 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 17 Mins: 5 Seconds: 2

Fish, It sounds as though you have you mind set on an Ipod, I don't know much abut Ipods, but my daughter bought on for less than $150. And it sounds great. Do they have other features on them that you are wanting? You will find the right on Fish, just keep looking. And those 202 days awesome... Fish When I get through to the other side I am going to spend Christmas in Venice Italy possible with a trip to Florence. Thats my reward to myself for giving myself back my health. I reward myself constantly with little treats so I never feel deorived or wanting. I think I am going to start rewarding myself with afternoon naps on the weekends. There we go. Looking to the future is a great way of getting out og the ughk of the present. Hi Fish! I have to agree, you do deserve the better ipod. To many times I see people give themselves less because they do not think they deserve what they really want. How silly is that? Fish you have worked hard and you do deserve what you want. I also have to vote for the dog. I don't know what I would do with out my beagle. I always like to hear what people are rewarding themselves with. I've heard some great ones: a new car, a cruise, a rafting/camping adventure, additions on the house, a new car - holy crap, that's awesome, etc. I feel I owe myself a reward for my 6 months/200 day milestones and I've yet to give myself one. I should clarify - I treat myself to quite a few small rewards - a tasty lunch or dinner, a nice bottle of wine or good beer or a good cup of coffee, signing up for a race I want to run, books and cds, etc. But I wanted a more substantial reward for this milestone as I feel it merits it. I wanted to get myself an Ipod, but I really can't justify the $300 I'd spend for the one I want. Perhaps I should make a concession and purchase an inferior model. I probably don't need the more expensive one but I want it. Ahhhh, we'll see. Can or does anyone else get that feeling in there head when it's time for a reward. It's like there is something wrong. I'll get depressed briefly thinking about things like how I miss my ex-girlfriend or why I wasted so much time/$/life smoking, but then I switch and feel very successful, looking with confidence for the next challenge. I think it's these moments of wavering or vascillation of emotion that need rewarding because we are doing 'it.' And 'it' needs reinforcing. I know I'm just kind of rambling here. I guess I'm trying in a roundabout way to reinforce the importance of rewards. To myself and to whoever may or may not be thinking about it. For my one year anniversary, I'm thinking of getting either a new guitar - probably acoustic - or a dog - to help with the lonliness. What's everyone rewarding themselves with these days. I want to hear some good ones (I know you're getting a 2005 Dodge Durango with gray interior, Alleyann - in my best Napoleon Dynamite... LUCKY). Indulge me, would you... keep fightin' the good fight - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 202 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,085 Amount Saved: $1010 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 5 Mins: 28 Seconds: 15
