Still Hanging in There

Great job on your quit, look at all those days. I can totally relate to you in many ways. You sound a lot like me from what I read on paper. I am pretty overwieght, like 80-90 pounds over, so I obviously lean on food as well. I have already started to feel like I am gaining weight and I have been exercising and walking a lot. It bums me out cuz i already have enough weight to lose, don't need anymore. I am from a family of addicted personalities, anything with in reach. You are doing wonderful and I know you can succeed in all aspects. Look, you quit smoking so now anything is attainable, right? That is so how I feel. Keep your quit and work towards your next goal! Hey Shadow....I know what you mean; gained 10 pounds myself just like that. But damned, food tastes so good now; and of course, it "helps" with the crave. But WHAT AN INCREDIBLE QUIT YOU HAVE!!! :8|: I'm pretty jealous. Well listen......now we have to start exercising a bit, eating a little smarter. Doesn't seem fair though. I mean, I'm not smoking, so I should be able to reward myself any way I want! Right? :( Oh well. You really should be proud, the rest will be taken care of later. Hang in there! Just want to let everyone know that I am still a non-smoker and now I am trying to get rid of the 30 pounds I have Gained. I know I will never smoke again but this has been so difficult for me. It made me realize that since I was smoking since I was 16, it was a part of me. So I am trying to be a different person now. This has made me realize so much about myself and the smoking habit. But I am so proud of myself now and most of the time feel really good about this except when I am in my I don't give a ____ mood, then it is hard and I still have to go to bed. Theres just one more interesting thing. I quit in November of 05. I am 54 years old and never have tried quitting before but it bothered me all the time because I smoked. I had a late baby at 42, so I still have a 12 year old at home and was always so worried that I would not get to raise her. Well I finally quit, (I could not have done it without this site) gained all kind of weight, ate constantly but that really didn't help but it was something to do anyway. Now 6 months later, I look terrible, feel terrible, and decided I needed to do something about my weight. So I am on the South Beach diet and the first 14 days are very strict; no sugar or carbs at all and I was a big time snacker on anything and everything. Well, anyway, I am on my 9th day and this is so hard and I want a piece of candy or cake or pie so bad that I haven't been thinking about cigs at all. I never realized how screwed up I was as far as an addictive personality. I'll post back in about a month or so and let everyone know how I am doing. I know there are people out there like me, in their fifties and been smoking forever. I have a very rebellious personality from growing up in the sixties. Smoking was a part of that rebel in me, I know. Anyway. I am rambling on so hang in there everyone. and excerising every day. Hi Shadow, Ive been quit for a year and am just now beginning to lose weight. I stayed on a diet and exercised all during my quit, so I didnt gain any weight, but didnt lose any either. (Actually, I lost 3 lbs. over and over and over LOL.) I tried the South Beach, but cant live without fruit, so it didnt work for me. Im using a combination of the Jorge Cruise 8 Minutes in the Morning diet and the Sonoma Diet and exercising everyday. Basically, its just eating a balanced diet and not overindulging in junk food. (Chocolate ice cream is my downfall.) Ive found it much easier to stay on a diet if I allow myself one day each week to eat something I really want. That way, I dont feel so deprived. Good luck and let us know how youre doing. Not cravin', never cavin'.
