doing well then another attack

Thanks, Gerry. That gas sounds bad. I had nasty pains several years ago. I alleviated them with a natural fiber supplement and a green food supplement. It just keeps everything moving, you know? I think we need to stop thinking so much, but it's difficult in the middle of the night. I really want to deprogram myself now! Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing! sts

sts, I get similar symptoms and I am going through a setback at the moment. My stomach knots up and cramps then I get dreadful pains and gas which builds up and actually brings on my panic attack. The build up of gas has an effect on my diaphragm and this causes the palpitations. I live on Gaviscon. Last night I had one almighty panic attack with palpitations that lasted for around 20 minutes but the attack and confusion, derealisation lasted for half an hour and I was messed up for the rest of the night, got around 2 hours sleep. I am dreading sleep tonight but I swear I won't let this beat me :) You are not alone with this sts, so hang on in there.

I swore it wasn€™t going to happen and it was worse. I woke at 4:30am, laid there for a few minutes and the heart pounding started with the diarrhea. I went to the bathroom a few times, tried listening to my tapes, but it wasn€™t helping. My stomach was clenching up every time I€™d drift off. Why does it do that? I took a Xanax. I was nauseous, so I moved to the sofa and when the kids got up, I went back to bed after I ate ½ a banana. I stayed in bed until 10:30, but was still very tired and nauseous and my stomach was still clenching, though not as much. I put a heating pad on my stomach and it seemed to help a little. I ate a ½ bagel and got dressed. I can€™t do this anymore. I€™m so angry this is happening and I feel I can€™t control it. It€™s like I€™ve had the stomach flu every day for over a month now. And now, the attacks are starting again with it. I€™m seeing the MD Monday, maybe he€™ll change the meds so I€™m not so sick all the time. I need to do something because I can€™t stand this feeling of being sick to my stomach all the time. It makes me very lethargic and indifferent. I want to do stuff with my family but I physically feel ill. How do I combat the nighttime wake-up €“get sick routine? The breathing isn€™t working. The diarrhea is the trigger. Maybe I just expect to have an attack now, so I do.

Sts you are obviously going through a down time. But trust me u will bounce back up. Panic disorder is like a rollercoaster until one day it will flatten out. Remember panic attacks are 100% harmlous. U'll be right in the long run! Try your best to be positive and patient. CYA

sts - hi there, don't give up. We all have those one step forward and ten back. Just persevere and keep positive. Our problem will from time to time sneak up on us when we least expect it. I sometimes get that funny strange stomach feeling like something bad is going to happen and I thin, 'oh here we go again!' I am learning to control it though and have been successful, I had almost two weeks without a panic attack and bang I had one. I just keep trying harder and being more positive about them, not letting them get me down. Try to just think of them as an inconvenience and that they will not bother you much, you will be surprised how they diminish in size!! Best of luck and keep smiling ;p

My husband had me set the alarm for 5:30 for him. I told him since I have to turn it off (clock ison my side), I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. Guess what? A self-fulfilling prophecy! I woke up and had an attack. Diarrhea, nausea, tingling, shaking, heart pounding. I tried to calm down with breathing and relaxation tapes. I listened to them about 4 times over, but never slept. I kept getting up to go to the bathroom. The nausea and diarrhea make the anxiety 10 times worse. At least if I could breathe and calm myself, it would get better, but I can't control the cramping and nausea and they take over. I finally got up at 9am since Mike was home and could feed the kids. I rode the exercise bike for a few minutes to try and stimulate some energy, but it make me sick. I had some tea and toast, my vitamins and a ¼ Xanax, then almost vomited. I hate that drug because It just knocks me out, but sometimes nothing else works. I€™m going to try to talk myself into a good night and day today.

I was doing well - my third week on Lexapro and the side effects were finally starting to subside. (I had diarrhea, nausea and shaky hands for about the first 2 hours after waking up.) The breathing exercises were helping as well as relaxation and meditation tapes. Then, this morning I woke up at 5:30 with stomach pain and had several bouts of diarrhea for the next few hours. I tried to stay calm, but I thought about how I didn't want to be sick and that I had a busy morning and then the heart raced, chills, etc. The attack was not as bad as they were when I was on nothing, but I'm really mad that it happened. I finally took a 1/2 Xanax, which I hadn't taken in about 1.5 weeks. I was fried all day, my stomach was upset and I just wanted to sleep. I hate this! Any advice?
