You know - I feel so much better about my quit now. I cna't even describe it. I sat here going through all of those things as my body heeled and recovered from my 45-65 a day assault and I kept saying "Dumb.. this quitting thing has got to be the dumbest thing i've done in a long time." I'm sure glad I stuck with it, because now I see how dumb all those people look when they lurk aorund with their cigarettes and slip outside. We were soemwhere yesterday and there were people standing outside smoking, and my son goes "Oooo mom.. loooook at them smooooking...." (My son is his father's son all the way - try not to hate him.) and it occured to me that even non smokers have this notion that to quit smoking meens that you are giving up something very precious. We all hated it when we did it - let's just be honest with ourselves for a minute. I looked at the morons and I said "Yeah *giggle* I'm sure glad that I don't have to stand out there looking dumb anymore." You know - if you make a million dollars, people all say "OH Wow! How'd you do that!?" When you say that you quit smoking, a very very extremely small handfull of people will show interest. Only the ones who are actively considering it themselves. "Oh wow.. I wish that I could" and there you are feeling like you are standing in front of a guy that's in a wheelchair - dancing and singing.."Oooo I have legs! Woo hoo.. i have legs!" I've decided to sing and ance whenever I want in front all of those handicapped people with cigarettes. This is the time for my to not be politcally corect, and have fun with it! *dances out of the thread* I'm not crippled by a weed anymore. This "Professional" woman was at my house on Friday morning with a freind of mine. I told this woman that I had quit smoking, and she replied with the usual "I wish I could". I've just recently figured out that "I wish I could" translates into "Stop talking about it right now because you're making me feel bad." Well, i didn't stop talking about it... I was sharing the easy stuff and the hard stuff with her, and just a rambling on. Then she stood up, headed for the door, patted me on the shoulder on the way by, and said "I'm going to go outside to have one for you..." You know what? She's jealous. It kind of all hit me this weekend. I've been jealous of the smokers because they get to "enjoy" they're cigarettes and I have "given them up" and deprived myself. But, before I quit, I was wishing I could quit just like that woman. How messed up is that!? *DUH moment* I don't need to say anything to her. My friend doesn't bring her cigarettes at my request, and I could say the same to this woman if I wanted to. But, I think that i'll just say "I'm sure glad that I don't have to join you!!" Yup Hurstk - she comes every tuesday and friday and spends an hour before she leaves me to babysit my freind and her son. My freind is respectful enough to not even bring hers with. She don't go out onto my porch and smoke. Eh - better CPS lady than me. LOL! I hope she keeps right on puffing because she's paying the goverment so much money that she's keeping our income taxes down. I now call cigarettes the "Stupid Tax" - they rank right up there with speeding tickets and guys that drive around without proof of insurance in their car. Why else would they not be illegal? And those anti-smoking comercials? They make you want to smoke. They know that. When i read your story all i can think of is Cuddles trademark saying... Its better to be a non smoker with an occasional craving for a cig than a smoker with the constant desire to quit... You are the non smoker, she the smoker with the constant desire to quit.
