Messed up, how stupid, but I'm back again

for 17 år siden 0 3 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Sharon I lost my dog in August. She was 17 and she just wandered off one rainy night. Hard to loose a best friend. Don't beat yourself up. I've made it one whole day and I'm a wreck. One of my goals is to get a new dog this spring but not until I can give it a clean, smoke-free place to live. Hang in there!

Sharon, I remember after 9/11 so many thought the world could end tomorrow, so they took the attitude of "why worry about our health", we are all going to die soon, in some "spectacular" death. Many gave up their resolutions, whatever they were, because the end was near. The point is, really, really hard days will come upon us. If you were challenged (as you were with your dog) on 9/11 would you have given up your quit just as easily? Do we want to race the end? To see if we will be put to death before we kill ourselves? We are people of hope, and we answer to a higher authority. Only God decides when we go. It is our gift to God to take care of what he has so graciously given to us. Take care of your gift everyone! Hi Sharon, I know exactly how you are feeling. I have tried to quit so many times that I have lost count. Twice, it was for about 6 months long. I was always tested, and lost and felt so stupid afterwards. Obviously not stupid enough. It's great that you are back on track!! I know it can be hard sometimes and we are sometimes fooled into thinking that the cigs will make it better, but they don't. Keep the quit! At least all of you have some pretty severe reasons for grabbing old nicodeomn... that's why I've come in on this discussion today. About 1/2 hour ago, I had a chest pain...been bothering me for about 3 days now, took a panic pill last night to ease it and it did, pain is back this morning. I told my husband, "I want a cigarett"...he said, "Grab a candy bar" flatly. Hummph, I thought to myself, and said "I don't want one". and then I thought to myself...I really don't want a cigarrett either..use your breathing techniques....and get on the SSC dummy...do you want to be a Quitter or a Smoker wanting to Quit? so here I am...hanging in there...still a non-smoker...and Sharon...God bless you Hon...hang in there (we all do know the struggle of stressful situations and the unavoidable craving and memory of addiction) auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,623 Amount Saved: $152 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 11 Mins: 12 Seconds: 23

Hi Sharon, Glad you've come back. You know theres lots of support when you need it. We're all going through this together, and this forum is a great way for us to help one another. Losing a pet is a tough one. Before we had the 2 beagles we have now, we had to put our other beagle down at 10 years. Cancer. I bet there's lots of us who've been through this. Hang in there Sharon, you can do this. I'm pulling for you, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 290 Amount Saved: $81 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 8 Seconds: 49

Sharon, Just take some really deep breaths, slap on the patch and get going again. The sooner you do it the better you will feel. Smoking doesn't solve anything nor does it help at all. Brush yourself off. Today is a new day! P.S. You are not stupid, you are an addict just like the rest of us. As addicts, we cannot have even one puff or we awaken the full addiction again. One step at a time.
