If there were poisonous berries on your kitchen counter would you want to eat just one?

Just the thought of one more makes me nauseas and sick to my stomach, Not to mention the Guilt and the Trauma of going through quitting for nothing. NO WAY!!

Why can't I have just one-because one will lead to another. My last quit was the first week in November, after 2 weeks smoke free I decided I could control my habit so I had 1 smoke. The next week I had 2 smokes the next week I bought a pack, two weeks later I bought another pack, as you can see I was gradually back to my old habit. This time I know I can not have just one unless I want to be a repeated quiter for the rest of my life. My goal is to be smoke free for the rest of my life not to be a repeat quiter the rest of my life. Thanks for the post, this is a good subject for me to reflect on. Debbie

Why can't I have one more? Good question. So many reasons...
I WILL not go through another quit. I like this one.
I WILL not let my children down.
I WILL not let my husband down.
I WILL not have another pet die of lung cancer. (talk about guilt)
I WILL live to see my children graduate.
I WILL live to see my children marry.
I WILL live to see my grandchildren.
I WILL live for ME!
Thanks for asking. I needed to hear my own answers.

Hi Grace -
Smoking is disgusting and it was killing me. I know if I took one filthy puff I'd be back to 2 packs a day by Wednesday. They're truly gross and, oh, I'm an addict.
Peace.

Grace: Great post.
JUST ONE -- for me, it would mean the addiction wins and I lose for the umpteenth time. 35 years of handing over control is MORE than enough!
JUST ONE -- too dangerous, won't go there!

2-Tone -- we are so in the same boat.
One puff today, I'm in the gutter tomorrow.
We'll keep ourselves clean, yes?
