Great Topic, Even me with completing day 8, I can smell so much better. My cough has significantly changed, it's not the "I'm coughing up a lung" cough, but a very productive one, and I can really feel my lungs trying to clean themselves out and start the process of healing. I have saved $44.00 dollars so far and have already bought myself a reward (it is of Lavender scent), and I don't smell like an ashtray....I feel like a golden retriever...I keep smelling myself :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 183 Amount Saved: $44 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 41 Seconds: 30

I may not have so much quit time but I already am feeling much better. I am finally starting to feel normal again! At first I had to deal with the cravings, then I started to get very emotional and then after that I was very irritable for no reason at all. And now I just feel my normal self again. Phew! It is so worth it! Quitting has got to be right up there on the "Top best things I did in my life". No kidding. Right there along with getting married, having children, rescuing a cat that I had for 17 years, going back to college and getting my degree and more I can't think of right now. I am slowing freeing myself of a 1 pack a day for 30 years habit and it feels good! Hope yourself another smoke-free day! Hi folks - I just read a thread that made me realize that we may be discouraging some people at the beginning of their quit. For all you people who are starting out, it does get better. I think, during this quit, I have been reluctant to post my successes because somehow I felt that this would be unfair to the people who were going through a rough time. However, I often post when I am going through a rough time and need some extra support or advice. I just realized that this is probably misleading to people who are just starting out. During the first week of my quit, every day was bad. Now, after 60 days, I have some bad days....but I have also had many many good days. I do not plan to smoke...but I do realize that I still have lots of growing and learning to do to be successful for life. From now on, I will post the good days too...and I really hope that others will share all their great experiences with people at the beginning of this journey. I do not stink of smoke! I am not coughing up the brown crud as often! My hair smells good! I am saving money! I am learning how to deal w/ stress and every day problems w/o lighting up. Plus as each day goes by w/o smoking, my body is adding minutes to my life =) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 553 Amount Saved: $110 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 56 Seconds: 28

Hi Windy, I have some good news too. Not all people go through bad times when they quit. After day 3 I got this feeling of relief and I still have that same feeling. I have smoked almost 40 years and I never thought that I would ever stop. Well, I did it and I thought it was not hard at all. For me, it was a habit mostly. I just changd my whole life and that was the end of the smoking. I feel fantastic ever since and that is almost 8 months now. I did a lot of research before the quitdate and that helped me a lot. Sometimes I do think about smoking but never in the way that I want one. I think it stinks!!
