mylife: I also am quiting again, except this time it's gonna stick. My husband doesn't smoke and never has. He tries to be supportive. Right now he is putting the kids to bed (reading, etc) so that I can post on this site.
I'm in the middle of an active quit. I have a history of an 11 year quit and have been smoking for the past 3 years. Last time it took me 5 years to quit [play around].
I considered Friday my last dayof smoking. I took extra time from work to go out and have smoke breaks (in addition to having to take off a chunk of the day do a reptile presentation at my child's school -yes, it was cool). I told the guy who runs and/or owns the cafeteria to call the police if I attempted to purchase any more cigarettes from him because I was quitt'n. He told me he wanted to quit- said he was gonna quit at the birth of his son and again at the birth of his daughter, but liked to smoke in the car. I referred him to this site.
I tell you this last paragraph because
1) my plate is full, I am borrowing time to smoke
and
2) recognizing the need to quit smoking it universal.
Lastly, the real reason I'm responding to your post: I'm quitting this weekend. I have one more cigarette in my posession (you will learn that I can't spell worth a lick and I can't find spell check)
My plan is to have one more tomorrow before my patch, but what I want to tell you is this:
Friday
I considered my last day of regular spoking before taking two cigarettes home, anticipating quiting by Sunday, No. 19.
Anyway, here's the point (after I don't know how many lines later) I left work late, smoked what I considered my list cigarette of any work day. As I did so at 5:30 at night on a Friday, the few cars remaining in the garage at that time were speeding, one by one, toward the exit. As I smoked my last cig. I imagined that they were quitters of this site. I wanted to join them. As I put my cigarette out and drove out of the garage, I imaged that I was joining the future non-smokers and would soon be free.
There is no easy quit, just know that we are there with you. Best of luck and check in often.
