Ok, this is not a withdrawl or a craving question. I just need to vent a little and see if anyone has ever dealt with this before.
Last night one of my friends and I were talking on the phone. First she said she can't believe I quit (I've been smoking a pack a day for the past 6 years and I just quit cold turkey out of the blue a month ago) and then she proceeded to tell me how I should talk to another friend of ours who still smokes and tell him to quit! Ok, I don't know how you guys feel about this, but as an addict I hated people telling me to quit. Especially people who used to smoke. It just didn't work. I've always thought that quitting is a personal choice and the pushier people are, the more likely you are to go outside and light another one. Anyway, this friend of mine just kept going on and on how we all need to talk to him and intervene like the other guy is 5 and doing crack or something. It pissed me off so bad I just told her I don't want to have anything to do with that and it he ever comes to me for help I'll be there naturally, but other than that there's no way I am going to pass any judgement or try to convince him to do something he's clearly not ready for, just because I did it. Grrrrrrr, why is it that people who don't smoke cannot understand that smokers will smoke regardless of what you say until (and if ever)they get ready to quit? It makes me feel like I'm supposed to be the fairy godmother, wave my magic wand and have every smoker around me quit...
Well, what do you guys think? Ever been there?
Thanks!
