You figured it out, yes I am a respiratory therapist. Graduated last June. Quite a few smoke but not as many as there used to be. Fortunately there is a smaller and smaller group. Unfortunately noledge of the damages it can do does not always help since like most addicts we just don't see how it may relate to us and heck we can hook up our own oxygen. Just kidding. Doing well today no real cravings so to speak just that huge feeling that something is missing. Stopped and got plenty of treats to get me through my shift. Going strong feeling pretty positive. Thanks guys My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 98 Amount Saved: $12 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 25 Seconds: 55

Day four and doing o.k in general. I'm working a 12 hour night shift in the hospital right now so it helps me stay busy and distracted most of the time. Not having any serious cravings at this point they just kind of come and go in waves don't even stay very long. Kind of wierd.Feeling a little light headed but firm in my resolve. Much more optomistic about succes this time around. This site is a god send. Hi Rtchick. Good going so far. Just want to warn you to be prepared. Sometimes after several surprisingly smooth days you will get hit with a sudden overwhelming monster craving. It doesn't happen to everyone, but you should BE PREPARED! If it comes, try to head it off at the pass by repeating (out loud if nec) "I do not smoke anymore. Having a cig or even a puff is not even an option". Have substitutes - sucking candy, gum, licorice, straws - whatever will work for you. Talk about it to those you love and trust - but be careful of current smokers - sometimes they subconsciously want you back in their ranks, or so I hear. Also, come to this site and read and post as often as you need to. That has helped me many a time. I know I'm still relatively new at this, but I've been reading and posting and learning so much. I've also found helping others makes me stronger in my quit! good job rtchick, I experienced the same thing you describe when in my first week. You will notice the urges will be less and less and the waves further apart. Stay strong, you are getting through the toughet part. Hi rtchick! I dunno if you've already shared this in some other thread, but I just have to ask... does the rt in your name stand for "respiratory therapist," by any chance? While my daughter was in the NICU for 89 days after she was born, I got to know the hospital staff pretty well, and ALL the RT's smoked! All of them! I always thought that was a bit ironic. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,496 Amount Saved: $147 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 3 Mins: 7 Seconds: 54
