My 2 cents?
I still believe that smokers have a right to smoke. As a smoker, at work I was as courteous as I could be to the non-smokers. I didn't stand right next to the door, I didn't exhale in their direction, I made sure my cig was completely out before I left the area. I never threw a butt on the ground, or out a car window for that matter.
I was going to be a champion for smokers rights...why can't we smoke in the outside air wherever we are? How can someone tell me I can't smoke in a public park, or at the golf course, in my own car in a parking lot, or in an open air restaurant? Nobody owns the air! Smokers rights are being eroded daily. Is it fair? Was it fair when you smoked?
All smokers know the health hazards of the habit, but just as we did, they continue to smoke. We no longer smoke, but remember how we hated the reformed smokers telling us (again) what we should do?
I now choose not to smoke. I will not become one of "those" ex-smokers. There are smokers at work who ask me how long since I quit, and I proudly tell them. They haven't asked me how I did it, or how they can do it, or anything else that leads me to believe they are ready to quit. If they ask, I will encourage them, and help them in any way I can.
N.O.P.E. is my mantra (along with Junkie Thinking) but to each his own. If they want to smoke, let them smoke. Me? I love being a non-smoker, and 3 months ago I wouldn't have believed I would ever say that.

For those who know me, I think I am beginning to experience the freedom! Glory Be!
