Hi, Most quitters don't know what to do with all the extra time and just sit on the couch and wait for something to happen. I slept for almost a week in the beginning of my quit, I think I was lucky. After a week I started to do things I never did like walking and playing with the dog and stuff like that. When I kept myself busy I got more and more engergy and I cleaned out my whole house and the garden and everything that came in my way. It's true about smokers, they do not do al lot then sitting on the couch and smoke. I mean, you are not used to all that extra time and that is why you think life is boring. You'll get used to do more and then you feel better. That is the same way I felt. Actually I felt very depressed. Still do sometimes. But, I know it is because the only thing (cigs) that I know is smoking. It was my friend. I guess it takes time to adjust to a new way of living. Like everyone said getting active helps. (Hard to do with a heat index of 105-112 degrees). I alway thought I had to replace one obsession with another. When I first quit I was so active until I hurt my shoulder (still hurts). Now I am not so active with exercise stuff, but I am still active with busy stuff. I am doing a lot of painting around the house. Yes, isn't that funny. For non-smokers, smokers are boring. They just sit around and smoke and do nothing. For Smokers, smokers are more interesting cause they like to hang-out and smoke and talk. It is all a matter of perception. Smoking is boring, what is the purpose? Now that you are a non-smoker you don't know what to do with all the extra time you have. Jose is 100% right (as usual) get active, get off the couch do something because you are now ALIVE! Your body is trying to heal and it will take time :) Try introducing yourself to an active hobby! Walking, Stretching, Exercise. You do have new found time, so use it wisely and do something for you :) Always check with your doctor to rule out anything medical, if this lack of energy persists. Congrats on 11 days! You will not believe how much better life will get. The lull when you quit is quite common. Never realized how much time you spent smoking did you? Amazing! Find something to fill that void. Try new things until you find something you like. I began playing golf soon into my quit to take my mind off of smoking. Now I love to play. Pick up a new hobby of some sort. Something to occupy your mind and your body. Sounds like you are doing great! Hang in there, it does get better. One thing I can say helped me tremendously is walking for about 45 minutes a day at a brisk pace, usually covering 2 1/2 to 3 miles. It seems to rid your body of stress, and it gives you all kinds of energy after about 2 weeks of doing it 5 times a day. Good luck, stay focused.
