Panic Attacks

Bobbi and Anna, I know what both of you are saying. Pen is right. You don't have to live like this. I almost gave up my quit after over a year just so I wouldn't feel the emotions I was feeling anymore. I am so thanful that I didn't. It is hard to come forward to talk about this issue. So many people around here told me to see my doctor and ask for help. I just remember thinking... Who the hell do they think they are. They don't know "me". I am strong, independant, self-sufficient and I quit smoking! They just don't understand. Quitting isn't easy for everyone. Some of us have to fight hard for it. Sound familiar??? I'm sure it does. I believe there are a lot more people that have these problems than just the handful that admit it. It was hard for me to come to terms with as well. The emotional issues, the craving, the depression were all part of the quit process for me. I had to deal with each situation one at a time and one step at a time. I think when you are ready you will deal with each issue as it comes. I simply dug deep and refused to give up my quit. I remember times when my quit seemed to be the only thing I had to hang on to. I went through 18 months of this hell. I had to learn coping skills for dealing with my emotions and I'm still learning today! It isn't an easy path but it is rewarding to get rid of the demons of the past. Some say this has nothing to do with quitting smoking. Having lived through the hell, I say it has EVERYTHING to do with quitting smoking. There are a lot of people around here that have my email address and my chat address. Feel free to get it from them. I am more than willing to help anyone dealing with this situation. I know how awful it can really be. You are not alone. No matter what you do, don't smoke. It will not help your situation or make anything better. Hang on tight and don't let go. Take my hand and we can talk about it. No one here really knows us. We can talk and work through it. I promise it will be ok. I am happier now than I have ever been in my entire life. Don't give up. Bobbi & Audrey I hope you guys get in to see someone soon. It will really help you sleep better & feel better!! I have been to 2 dr. and the emergency room in the last 40 days (since this quit began). The first was the anxiety visit, introducing zyban to my life.. It is working like a charm. (I am still a little grouchy) The next 2 visits were breathing related.. He was a complete stranger, on a Sat. morning.. He answered all my questions and talked with me forever about the changes that are going on.. He did suggest that I see a GP when I finished all the medicine!! I can not tell you how much better, mentally I felt after that visit. ps I never go to the DR. C'mon Bobbi let's do this and get help. We know not smoking has changed our lives for the good but maybe there are some bad side effects too! I know for me there have been. It really threw me into an abyss:-( I am going to make an appt tomorrow. Tons of people seek help for personal issues, we just don't know it cuz it's "personal". That's what I'm thinking anyway. Plus I want to get better and be a help rather than a hindrance around here. Plus Unhooked luvs us and wants us back. Make an appt tomorrow and I will too...deal? I know you like me need just a little help and what I've read on the internet today we are easy fixes :) (((((Bobbi)))))))) PS: thx all My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 232 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,640 Amount Saved: $649.60 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 15 Mins: 42 Seconds: 38

Audrey, Bobbi! My quit sisters, so sorry you're both having such an awful time! Audrey, you will be fine on your bike trip & good for you for stepping outside of your comfort zone! Visualize only positve things when you think about it & be sure to breathe deeply. We're all there with you and nothing bad is going to happen. Bobbi, honey, if you feel so bad, why on Earth would you not see a doctor? It's nothing to be ashamed of, any more than having diabetes is, and no one can tell you how you "should" feel or what "should" be happening. You feel what you feel & what is happening is what is happening. PLEASE see a doctor, Bobbi, you are far too sweet and special a person to not have the gift of happiness to go along with the gift of a smoke-free life. I love you both & it makes me unhappy to see you unhappy! Please go to your doctors, that's what they're there for. Lady, you so connected with me this eve. I don't like to talk to much about the way I feel. especially since it has been almost 6 mo. now and I still have panic attcks and feel misserable at times, I read some of the posts and I feel ashamed that I am still having the terriable feelingds I am having and no one else is hac=ving the same feelings and I feel like a freak. I feel like if you are a nesbie it is ok but if you have at least 6 mo. it isn't right to still have the feelings I am having. I feel I should be saying I am doing great, no cravings, just extreame happy and I am not alot of the times, why I don't know but I am!!!!!!! maybe I should be but can't control at this time how I truely feel inside, I am misserable. work on it daily and so glad I don't smoke, so happy, and don't want to smoke ever again, I cry all the time because I feel so misserable, don't want to go to the dr. and that is what is always recomended, just want it to go away and think you can do it on your own! is so upsetting. If you have any suggestions would be so greatful, lady. thanks, hugs prayers and pixie dust Bobbi My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/27/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 161 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,830 Amount Saved: $402.50 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 16 Mins: 41 Seconds: 49

Audrey, Oh what an issue I have with this issue :) . I have panic attacks since quitting. I also had depression big time. I fortunately have worked through a lot of that now. I too shared your opinion of I would rather smoke than be nutso! OH how I share that view. I waited over a year and a half before I finally took the advice of others around here. Talk to your doctor and get a conselor if you need to. It will make a world of difference. I was so embarrased and still am at times so I understand how difficult this can be. Don't wait though. I wish I had sought help sooner. I am still amazed I survived the quit and don't know how I did. I guess I was just determined not to give up. Failure wasn't an option. If you need help get it. If you want to talk about it off the boards (I know I didn't want to post about it here) let me know and we will see if we can connect some how. You are doing great! Thanks everybody. Tomorrow I will try the sister site. It's definitely no fun, kind of like a crave takes over you but worse I think because it is total fear. I am doing or trying to do things also that are out of the norm for me due to my quit life and that may have something to do with it. Someone once said all they used to do was sit on their porch and smoke all there free time away. Well that was me too and I may be paying a price to not do that anymore either but I will figure out this problem, get through it, and be freer than ever before in my entire life! PS: tomorrow I also go mountain biking with people I've never met before and with total fear in getting there of letting my bike smash to smithereens on the highway. Major sweaty palms about that today... :| My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 231 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,620 Amount Saved: $646.80 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 13 Mins: 30 Seconds: 43
