What to Expect when you Quit!

for 17 år siden 0 3875 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
As you move along in your quit, you will get more energy. Give your body time do heal. You cannot expect to undo twenty or more years of smoking in a week or two, be patient, it will come and it does get better. The support here is great, and of course by nature, it is busier over the winter than the summer. I feel that part of my membership on this site is to help other people quit. That is what a support system is, helping each other, but perhaps some people don't feel that way and just don't stick around. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 235 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,875 Amount Saved: $2,479.25 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 18 Mins: 16 Seconds: 18

well, how about making it more active, mr lucky? Are there any topics you would like to discuss or get more information on? If so, I would suggest starting a new thread about those topics. I'm glad I quit but I did expect more. More energy and more support from non smoking friends. This board is a little dissapointing in that it's not very active. Okay, I just re-read Lainey's original post. It say "what to expect"... The first few days you can expect to have any or all of the following symptoms (I had all of these): Fatigue confusion light-headedness/dizziness trouble sleeping sore throat poor concentration irritability lack of concentration moodiness What else folks? Don't be shy about qutting. Tell everyone you know your exciting news. Also tell everyone that you come into contact with, like your mailman, your waitress, the check out girl at the market, etc. This will: 1) make you accountable, you have others to answer to if you slip 2) make alot of people proud of you 3) make you aware of just how big of an accomplishment you are making 4) everyone, smokers, nonsmokers, never smokers, will have encouragement, good quitting advice, and excellent experiences to offer you. You can never get to much of that!! 5) you may just inspire another addict (nicotine, alcohol, or drugs )to take steps toward quitting. 6) let you know that you are not alone Be sure to register yourself at all of your favorite store's gift registries. Since you have told everyone, they can share in rewarding you when you reach those milestones!! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 97 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,910 Amount Saved: $465.60 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 18 Mins: 1 Seconds: 36

Remember, it is normal to cry, scream, get super angry and feel like you are loosing control, lord knows I did it. You just need to try and remember that it all passes...and you have more good moments than bad as time goes on. I have to remind myself that I'm not missing out on anything just because I'm not smoking...sometimes during bad times, I would think I was missing "out" on something, and the reality is, we are missing out on nothing, but gaining so much! Come into your quit with the most positive attitude you can muster! If you want it to be hard, it will be! If you want it to be easy, it will be. Make your choice! The toughest part is the first three days, the nicotine is out of your system by then so the physical cravings will be done, after fourteen days you will see and feel a great improvement in how you feel and look. Because every person is different, some may experience a quit one way and others another way, which is great, we are afterall, individuals! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 235 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,875 Amount Saved: $2,479.25 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 17 Mins: 26 Seconds: 12

Good thread here, I used Altoids during my cravings the strong mint just seemed to help, Try not to think too far ahead keep all of it in the moment, tiny steps One hour at a time, try not to Panic or worry about tomorrow or when the cravings will end , Repete to yourself ( I will not smoke today, and i will worry about tomorrow when it gets here. Take care of yourself and make a game out of the quit Stay here as much as possible for support, you cant find a better place We care about your quit Tresa :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1905 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 38,100 Amount Saved: $6,667.50 Life Gained: Days: 268 Hrs: 14 Mins: 31 Seconds: 25
