Hi Xena :) Glad you are back! Antidepressants work in the brain by normalizing circulating levels of neurotransmitters. The side effects differ in each person, and what works for one person, may not work for another person. If you feel spaced out like you are watching yourself from a distance, then that particular antidepressant may not be the one for you (although I must say that I have felt very floaty just by quitting smoking)-- it may be hard to tell which is making you feel floaty-- the antidepressant, or the withdrawal symptoms. Talk to the doctor about possible side effects, and go online to the wellbutrin site and read about possible side effects. For people who are depressed, anti-depressants can be a lifesaver. Here's the main message though-- when succussfully taking antidepressants, the main feeling should be-- 'I feel NORMAL again!!!!' I hope that helps a little. I'll be here for your quit!!! Thanks Rusty. Love your cat! I'll have to go to an emergency clinic... otherwise an appointment will take 3 months.which is insane cause all i want is to quit. I'm thinking it will be a good thing cause what gets me is stress always... and i guess that these types of meds help with that too. Whooppi (the actress) is quitting... she was on the View and talked about the alternatives. She's going to try Welbutin too. She said that in some cases Chantix causes depressions... and for sure that's not something I need. Patches were good last time around...but stress gets me... and it makes me not care. I need help. I really want to quit, and on Monday, I;m going to ask a doc for Wellburn. but here are my concerns: Will it make me feel like I'm not really there? Will I be able to function normally? I have kids and have to get up and go about my day and drive and do everything as I do everyday... no way i can just test it out. I'm so scared of not being in control if i take it, as i heard that taking depression drugs felt like looking at your life through a TV. Hey Warrior Princess, hold your chin up...you will make it through. In the U.S., Welbutrin needs a prescription. Hugs to you. Xena, Welcome back our brave princess! It takes especial bravery to start back after a slip, so please be nice to yourself about it. The groundwork you have already made is not totally lost, so it is not like starting again from the beginning. Afraid I don't know about Wellbutin etc. - just used patches. I slipped 10 days ago. I feel so sad as I had already gone through the toughest period of quitting and now have to do it all over again. I found it hard to come back here and admit it... as you have all been here for me. And a wonderful sweet SSC friend sent me a package that made my heart warm 2 days ago,,, sent it to celebrate my 1 month smoke free. My friend, i will put it aside, and enjoy them once I've had my month smoke free. I reset my meter and will quit on the 12th. I was on patches. Does Wellburn help ? I feel like trying it out.
