I never coughed.  And I recently had a chest X-Ray and my lungs are all clear!  I dunno how it got out of there, but it did.

As far as rewards goes - it's very very important.. it's not just something to do with the money you're saving... the money I saved just got absorbed into our budget because we were overextending ourselves by buying cigarettes

The process of rewarding yourself helps to open up the serotonin receptors in your brain, and you need to re-open them because they closed when you were smoking because smoking makes your brain overproduce serotoninSerotonin keeps your mental health well, so by all means - Reward reward and Reward.  Every time you make it through stress at work, or a traffic jam, or a visit from mom, or whatever it is that used to inspire you to smoke.. reward yourself!  Cook gourmet food, or comfort food, or take a trip to a chocolate store, or to a perfume store, or take a long bath.. buy some essential oils and really stink up your space!  See a movie, sit in a jacuzzi, make a long distance phone call, have a pajama day, join a gym!

Just take really really good care of yourself!  You're doing the biggest and best thing you've ever done in your life... behave accordingly

I'm doing things i wouldn't have normally done like getting a motorcycle licence & a Motorcycle, i'm just peeved i never done this stuff sooner, but i'm shure making up for lost time !

I guess it just goes to shows how Smoking cigarettes just makes you complacent & lazy & that you just accept the way things have turned out in your life & i spose .... that fate has been handed to you in the form of a nicotine stick.

As a smoker I remember trying avoiding those thoughts of dying a premature death by lung cancer through smoking ....everytime i lit one up i thought " this could be the one" !

fyi i didn't cough at all when i quit

Thank you for the wonderful suggestions.  I've decided to take my $30 (that I saved not smoking) and taking my two boys to the Colorado Irish Festival near me.  I've always wanted to but, shhhh, no smoking there, and well, I was a smoker back then.  NOW I can finally go and see Celtic dancing, food, etc. Cant wait.  Still grumpy tonight but trying to switch that around.

I joined a couple of different book clubs.  One that only has inspirational books, and the other has all of my mystery books.  So I have about 15 books to read now, only its summer, and there isn't the time like there was in the winter when I first quit.  I have also bought things as little as hand and body lotion that smells really good, or a pretty candle.  Anything that is something you enjoy or like is all that matters.  I think  a vacations sounds great.
