Hi Phillip, here I am! There sure is a lot of wonderfully insightful thoughts and feelings swirling around in that brain of yours isn't there? And I thought it was crowded in my head! lol.You never cease to amaze me by how you are able to articulate so many of the things I too am going through. I love reading your daily posts. They always make me think about how I am doing on my own journey of self discovery. So relax, put your feet up after your hard day and rejoice in all the help you are giving to so many. Even when your feeling grumpy and tired, we are still learning from you about ourselves. Hello Phillip,Thanks for your encouraging words last night. I loved todays post. I am constantly impressed with how thoughtful and eloquent you are with your posts and quit. You really are learning so much about yourself. How exciting and rewarding. I am a person who very much has appreciated the nurturing I received last night. I agree that it is helpful not to be too tough on those who have had a relapse. I think they are probably beating themselves up enough without getting it here too. But, that said, some people may need a reminder not to "romanticize" their quit. A word I heard from Joe, that I beleive a lot of us do at times. Keep going Phillip, I am rooting for you and care how you are doing. GalFriday, I am so sorry for the sad situation you and your family must deal with now. Just tragic. You should be so proud for not using this as an excuse to smoke. Good for you. Sunshine, thanks for your help last night, and I'm sure you'll do fine without the patch tomorrow. I was nervous too when I stopped using them about 2 1/2 weeks ago but things have been o.k. (except for last night, but that wasn't from not wearing a patch) redrosie My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,788 Amount Saved: $614.2 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 6 Mins: 14 Seconds: 28

Hi Phillip, just popped into the site and saw you were feeling sad. I too have felt great sadness and also fear by the problems people can have in a quit than we think should be extremely strong. It causes me to be afraid of my quit. I am trying to use this fear as more ammunition in this fight against this horrible addiction. We must be ever vigilant. We can't give up. Let's just use this knowledge from ourselves and others to continue on this crazy a$$ ride. Keep Strong Phillip. By the by, What's special about Tuesday? Toonie Tuesday? LOL. Hi Phillip and everyone else!! The doctor has recommended us quitters need some more levity in our lives so he sent me this along with instructions to have at least 5 good belly laughs a day. A guy goes to a girl's house for the first time, and she shows him into the living room. She excuses herself to go to the kitchen to make them a few drinks, and as he's standing there alone, he notices a cute little vase on the mantel. He picks it up, and as he's looking at it, she walks back in. He says "What's this?" She says, "Oh, my father's ashes are in there." He goes, "Geez...oooh....I..." She says, "Yeah, he's too lazy to go to the kitchen to get an ashtray." Top Signs You Should Quit Smoking..... You spend more standing time outside of your office building than the landscaper does. You're no doctor, but "Cancer of the Cancer" doesn't sound like good news You've convinced yourself that tobacco counts as a serving of vegetables No takers for your new invention, the Shower Ashtray Everyone have a great day!!! Hang in there and don't give in. This site has really helped me. I don't post often but, I read frequently here and it has gotten me through some tough times. Just to know, I am not alone in this helps. Some helpful hints....I've been reading up on licorice because it seems to help my husband (he quit chewing after 40 years). Licorice has antidepressant properties and seems to take the edge off. Just don't over do it if you have high blood pressure. Also, fireballs help. Keep reading and posting here. It gets better but, I still have days when I could talk myself back in to smoking. It's a mind game, you know. Everytime, I get a nicodemon thought, I think of all the people I know that have died as a direct result of smoking. My brother-in-law's mother just died at 68 with congestive heart failure. She smoked 2-3 packs a day. Had she not smoked, she probably would still be alive. Her quality of life for the last 5 years has been awful. You don't want to live like that! Think good thoughts, post here and don't give in.
