Hi Swig,
This is an incredibly provocative topic and coincidental beyond belief since I worked in the very same field. Gotta love those audits! I believe that while slips can be misguided they are certainly no accident. A great deal of planning generally goes into taking that first drink whether it be at a party, home alone, at a bar, friends, or even work related. While in certain instances the choice has been hijacked to take that first drink, the second and third have not. As ND pointed out, once you’ve taken that first drink stopping before the second can be a challenge…because now there’s anticipation as to what could be but it’s still a choice. Furthermore, I’m not convinced as Dave suggested that your critical thinking skills could shut down after just one drink…therefore it’s still a choice in my opinion. Now, once you’ve consumed that second drink your critical thinking skills will likely be impacted and you may well start your mission to experience that elusive buzz and well, we know where that will end but it’s no accident.
So what controls can be instituted in order to circumvent such an accident?
