Hurting My Relationship

Warren, Vickers has some great advice :) If she understands what is going on she will be become more attentive and understanding. Knowledge is power and the more we know, the more we can assist each other. Have you started the program? Have you taken our tests? These might provide some assistance for you. Have you taken your girlfriend with you to the doctor or therapist? It may also be an idea to work through the program on your own and see what results you come through with. Your girlfriend can be on the outside and see the changes that you make. I know it is all a little confusing, you need to take it one step at time, and please let us know how we can assist you. I've been married for almost 15 years now. We've been together for almost 17. I've had this for 12 years so my husband knows the panic me and the "sane" me. It has only been this last year that he's actually tried to understand. The only thing I can think of that's made the difference is because I found this website and was able to show him that this is what I'm going through, this is what I'm feeling every day. Now, when I tell him, I'm having a hard time right now and I just need some time alone to work through it, he will give me some space. Or, if I tell him I need to talk to him and need some support, he tries to be there even if it's just to give a hug or a "it'll be ok" or something like that. Before, he would lose his patience and tell me I was a hypochondriac, doing it to myself, wasting my life, losing it, etc.... etc.... etc.... I'm sure you've heard it all before. One thing I also do when I'm feeling extra frustrated or if he's acting and saying things to me like he used to, I tell him, I know you can't possibly understand what I'm going through so all that I ask is that you pretend to. I don't know if any of that helps. Have her read some of the stuff that's on here so she at least knows what you're feeling and going through. That seems to have helped me the most. Hope it helps you, too!

Hey guys I feel like a lot of the time Im hurting my relationship with my girlfriend because of my anxiety. Im not truly happy most of the time and Im sad a lot of the time. I think this puts such a downer on our relationship. My girlfriend is a pretty happy person most of the time and when we go out somewhere a lot of the time she's having a lot of fun with her friends and Im kinda just there. She just kinda looks at me and says come on have fun you need to learn to have fun. It makes me feel so bad cause I want so bad to have fun and enjoy myself but Im stuck in anxiety mode and I think Im making it less fun for my girlfriend. She tries to understand it but Im sure she believes that its just something that if you were willing could just let go of. How maddening this disorder can be. They should just gather us panic disorder people up and drop us all on one island so we would be surrounded by people who understand us lol (just joking) Does anyone have any advice maybe. Take care everyone
