Angel, fortunately for me I was not hurt in my car accident. Therefore I did not have to go to physio. I'm sorry to hear that you did get muscle pain. I would think that it would be normal to have pain after a massage because they are touching areas where you were sore in the first place. It's just like if you had a cut on your arm or something if you touch it it hurts a little more. I know that when I am tense and go for massages, when I come out it feels a little sore but the next day it feels better. Keep it up the muscle pain will go away. I hope this helps! :)

Members, In regards to panic while driving, we encourage you to use the search function to search "driving" on the Support Group. This discussion has been a topic and occurred before. More assistance can also be found through Session 4 of the panic program. Some of the examples for how to make a treatment plan have to do with driving. This may be of assistance to you. There has been lots of encouragement for people to cope by using distraction (breathing, counting cars, listening to the radio). Distraction is an "ok" short term strategy but in the long run you want to use the panic program to come up with a plan to "face your fear" in a gradual step by step way without using distraction. Distraction is not a good long-term solution because distraction is avoidance. Individuals need to focus on facing their fears, instead of distracting themselves. You can view more information by taking a look at the Panic Program. Hope this helps, Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

Angie, Sorry to bother u but i have one question. Did you do physio-therapy after your accident? such as massages and the whole bit?Because i just started my physio treatments and i find that my pain is increasing after it. I told my physio therapist about this....so i think we will look into it. But did u feel this too? did ur muslces hurt a bit more cause they are sore? I'm just so anxious about my pain. I cannot stop thining about it. I really just want to get back to normal. And i keep thinking that i never will. I just need some encouragement cause im' so scared about this. thank you very much. I wish i can just look on the bright side and say that GOD SAVES ME FROM THIS. i need to think positive.......but the negativeness is blocking that. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :confuse:

Angel, I am so happy to hear that you had the courage to drive again. that just shows you that you are in control of the situation. it is completely normal to feel nervous while driving after an accident. Even individuals without panic and anxiety feel nervous afterwards. you'll have the flashbacks for awhile but that will soon fade away.Keep it up, you will feel better in no time. I have faith in you!!!Take care. :)

Hi, Angel. I'm sorry that you were in an accident, thankfully, you are okay. It's also good to read that you drove again, and, I'm confident that you will continue to feel better about driving. I've never been in an accident, but I know that it can turn driving into a phobia. I have an aunt that refused to drive after a car accident that she had...she's elderly now, and, she spent most of her younger years at the mercy of others with cars due to her fear of driving. Please, take the wheel again. You'll be glad that you did.

Angie, thanks so much for your reply. Your accident seemed much worse than the one i was in. I really hope you are ok now! You are so strong and powerful! I admire that in you! And to get into the car 2 days later and drive.......thats is so wonderful! U are so strong! I too got back in the car and drove. Mind you, i'm so nervous when i drive now. But i'm really trying to get over it. It will take time. So hopefully it will be past me very soon. I'm using your advice, and i also look up to you! so thanks so much for you advice. By the way, did you keep thinking of your accident? like have flash backs? Is this totally normal u think?

Angel, I too was in a car accident around 18 months ago. I was working(I do homecare) and I was also 11 weeks pregnant, and I was driving through a 3 way intersection (I had the right of way) and a car went right through the stop sighn and hit me. my car did a complete 360 and ended up in the ditch. my whole body was shaking. I could barely use my phone to call my husband. when I finally got control of myself two days later, I got into my husbands car and drove around my city. I knew that if I didn't I might turn it into a phobia and not ever drive again. Could you imagine having to depend on someone to take you everywhere you have to go. So my advice to you is get driving again as soon as possible, I know it might be scary the first couple of times but it will get easier and before you know it that car accident will be behind you. I hope this helps you. You can do it, you just have to believe in yourself. post back soon, I would love to hear how you are doing. :)
