You know, you're the only one who can do this...trust me I've just figured this out and it's going to be hard work. It's a true effort but like you said, you have to do what is best for your health. I come back and forth to this program, but it will be a continuous effort for me, but in time, we will learn how to deal with these panic and anxiety attacks.
I find I have to stop my negative thinking in it's track, and when this happens, I stop what I'm doing and do something completely different to change my thought and activities. This usually helps, it's hard but I know I have to do this to change.
You can do this, one day at a time, we all can do this...it doesn't matter what people think, your friends and family will understand and will support you. I find this site a very useful and helpful place.
