Texan,

It sounds like you are quite in tune with your body, the more experiences you encounter the more you'll be able to determine how to calm yourself down in each situations. Whether it be coming on here and reading or posting, or doing something to relax yourself.

Keep making progress, one step at a time!

Hi Texan.

Your BP and pulse will go up so unless you are checking to see how fast you can make it go down then best to not check. Just to make you feel better mine used to go up to 180 over 100 or more and pulse would be around 120 or more. Not good for a guy my age. I bought a monitor so I could see how fast I could make it go down again.  It's called distracting to get my mind off other things. It doesn't work for every one. Oh by the way it's Ok as long as you don't exceed max BP for your age or condition.

Hi all,

I guess Im having them one after another then. Some nights I can sleep for about 45 mins but as soon as I open my eyes, it's starts all over again. YUCK!

I had one last night that lasted about 2 hours bcuz I was having a chest pain on my left side above my breast. Jus knew I was having a heart attack. I even made my gf drive me to CVS to check my blood pressure. The 1st reading was like 139/89; the 2nd was normal & so was the 3rd. When I got home, I was crying and feeling stupid that I made her go thru all that with me. I got on this website and read things to calm me down. For it to have lasted only 2 hours is progress for me...

 Hi Ariel

Thank you for your reply. I think that if there is no break even for a few minutes then it must be one attack. I have had attacks roll in one after another but there was usually a break before the next one. Usually they were self induced by thinking about the last one and wondering when the next one would come and sure enough there it was. I hope you are getting better, no one should have to bare this. I hope the program is working for you too.

Hi Davit,
45 min-1 hr with it getting progressively worse with heart racing, grasping wherever I'm sitting, shaking, temperature disregulation, and thoughts that I am going to die and am going crazy.  The doctor said if symptoms last that long, it is one panic attack after another, but it seems like one.  Hope that helps.

Hi TexanFemme76

Thank you. This is exactly what i'm looking for. I've never been quite that bad and I can really feel for you. If I notice them building I can stop them or at least lesson them to where there bearable.  Any one else had this happen this bad? Oh by the way I had almost exactly the same symptoms. Very scary.

If I have a full blown panic attack, it lasts for hours. I had one that lasted for 5 hours one night. I could function but I couldn't lay down & sleep AT ALL. I was dizzy, had chest pains, nausea, chills, & gas. And everytime I thought about lying down to sleep, I was scared to DEATH of not waking up.

Im getting better at stopping them before they get out of control. But it's still not where I'd like it to be. But I REFUSE to give up

Hi Davit,

Every individual is different.  Generally, panic attacks only last a few minutes.  I have read commonly they last 5-30 minutes but I have also read they can last longer.  It would be interesting to see what other members have to say.

Hi all

Skipping is not always related to panic but sertainly can be. My ticker does it all the time and I've been told it's normall but it bothers me so I take medication for it, I feel less anxious having it tick regular.

I have a question for every body. This was brought up by a friend who is sure panic attacks are of short duration, less than 5 minutes and I can not remember ever having one that short. So I would love to hear how long everyone elses have been. I seldom get them any more but when I do even though they are mild and I have a way to stop them they seldom last less than 15 minutes. I'm mostly interested in the full blown ones that are so scary.

Davit
