Quote of the Day Part Two

Jealousy is a very valid emotion. It means you are human. Realistic means you are intelligent. I would not want my neighbours 300,000.00 dollar house. I'd be scared to sit down, I might get it dirty. Where would I put the cat, let alone the cat box. It is a fine house though. And mine is just a little too small though fine for one person and a cat. Cheap to heat, easy to clean.

Not many people are willing to give failure a second opportunity. They fail once and it's all over. The bitter pill of failure is often more than most people can handle. If you're willing to accept failure and learn from it, if you're willing to consider failure as a blessing in disguise and bounce back, you've got the potential of harnessing one of the most powerful success forces.

I guess having a point of reference sometimes has it's pitfalls.  To exaggerate the case, I could wish to have something which be extremely difficult to manage, like a castle?  How would I care for it?

As for jealousy, isn't it a valid emotion, so I could just accept it...?

Look at it from a different point, a less emotional one. How much of it is necessary? How much is within your means? Is it going to mean doing without something you do need just for show? And lastly, how much is just jealousy?

My neighbours have a 300,000.00 house and all the toys. I have a garden. And they are half my age. They have no time to garden.

Don't compare your accomplishments to anyone else's, yours are all that matters.

If you have tried to do something and failed, you are vastly better off than if you had tried to do nothing and succeeded. You must never regret what might have been. The past that did not happen is as hidden from us as the future we cannot see.
- Richard Martin Stern

I keep doubting myself, looking around and seeing something better all the time, even during success.  Sometimes I wonder what the point is...?

If you want to take your mission in life to the next level, if you're stuck and you don't know how to rise, don't look outside yourself. Look inside. Don't let your fears keep you mired in the crowd. Abolish your fears and raise your commitment level to the point of no return, and I guarantee you that the Champion Within will burst forth to propel you toward victory.

You can do what you want to do, accomplish what you want to accomplish, attain any reasonable objective you may have in mind - not all of a sudden, perhaps not in one swift and sweeping act of achievement - but you can do it gradually, day by day and play by play, if you want to do it, if you work to do it, over a sufficiently long period of time.

I wonder what is the difference between some people is, when faced with problems, some crumble and crack under pressure and give up.  While others see them as challenges and set their jaw to prove everyone wrong and succeed.  I've been a crumbler, but what I think the difference is, is how bad do I want something.  If I want something, I will get it, no doubt.  My daughter said that about me a couple of weeks ago.  So, when my mind is set, I will do it.  I'm thinking my crumbler kicks in when it's something that I don't really desire, whether it's subconscious or not.  Interesting to think about and thought provoking.

Abolish fear and you could end up dead.

For years I was a feller. I went to work each day expecting every tree to try to kill me. All it did was make me very observant. I was supposed to teach a guy that was so jumpy I had to tell him to go do something else before he got killed.
Fear of failure is so much different than this. but fear of failure can make you put more effort into it. Fear is not your enemy, fear of fear is.

Just one of those words that can mean more than one thing.

Many men fail because they quit too soon. They lose faith when the signs are against them. They do not have the courage to hold on, to keep fighting in spite of that which seems insurmountable. If more of us would strike out and attempt the "impossible," we very soon would find the truth of that old saying that nothing is impossible... abolish fear and you can accomplish anything you wish.
- Dr. C. E. Welch

I wonder when fear is necessary, other than everyday caution?
