Would you consider a mood stabilizer. I only ask this because it is what my therapist would recommend. It is slightly different from an antidepressant although they are lumped together. It should relieve all four of your problems and not make you sleepy groggy or brain fogged. If so then ask your doctor about tricyclic anti depressants. You can also look them up on the web. They are mild and will only help you. You still have to work the program and either way I will still help you any way I can.
Panic is most active in unfamiliar situations because that is how the fight or flight is triggered. If it doesn't know if a certain situation is safe it comes into effect and you have to tell it to shut down. This can be hard if the reason is indigestion or a little too much alcohol or being a little impaired from too much tranquillizer. Any thing. Being on edge from too much coffee or true allergies you may not be aware of. And also and this one is hard to see, hypoglycaemia. If I eat too much or too much of the wrong foods, My blood sugar spikes and drops too far, so I end up too low and have to have an orange or something with a bit of sugar to get my insulin to level out. Being low will leave you in a bit of a fog and if you are agoraphobic it is enough to cause panic. If you are aware of what is happening and you can correct it and tell yourself it will be Ok in a few minutes you may lesson or stave off the attack. Side affects of medication are harder to deal with. I have been known to talk and stuff my face without keeping track of what I'm doing till I feel uncomfortable, and then bam, panic comes to visit. All I can do then is ride it out. My blood sugar was often up during an attack and I never did figure out if it was a cause of or for the attack. It was just there. If you are nervous, putting foods that will irritate your stomach in it are a sure way to bring on panic.
Spicy food would not be good for me for this reason, also if a meal is really good and I eat too much or if it was too heavy(too much meat) then I would be sorry.
So I would have to say that food can cause or at least contribute to panic.
Certain foods can in fact affect your anxiety. Caffeine and alcohol can upset your natural chemical balance, making your nervous system work harder, which ultimately leads to increased anxiety. Spikes in your blood sugar can also effect your mood and anxiety. Try eating smaller meals more frequently, instead of big meals. Foods high in sodium, refined sugars and artificial sweeteners can also exacerbate your anxiety. Try sticking with a diet with whole grains, fruits, vegetables as these naturally increase levels of serotonin. Serotonin can help to make you feel more calm and comfortable.
hello every body . please condone me if i am bothering with my queries. could any one guide me whether the food we eat does effects our anxity? i've found after having very spicy food or heavy meals i get the feeling of uneasyness and that leads me mostly to the panic situation.

Hi everyone: Food for thought: Many, many successful entrepreneurs and scientists all failed multiple times before succeeding. And many were laughed at too. Why should we be so different? If we can learn from our mistakes, then we grow as people. Yes, Some mistakes are hard to take - we become embarassed, humiliated, discouraged, frightened etc. But we can get up again and try again with more knowledge to work with - such as this CBT program. It works! Keep pacticing. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
I know, I was one of those who avoided going out to parties, dinner, because I would be too close to people. If the focus was on me, I'd blush beet red, heart pounding and feel quite weak. Though I still consider myself a loner, quiet person, I enjoy get togethers and dinner parties and am genuinely interested in others.
Thanks, I really do think too much about what other people think. I guess I just worry so much that I would rather just stay where I am instead of putting myself out there and feeling like I've failed again.
There was some guy I've heard of that every day, he stands up and says "Yeeeeeessss!!!!" as if he won something and he does it with all enthusism and that gives him some mental positive energy. I havn't tried it yet.
