That is certainly reframing! It sounds like it is almost becoming engrained in your behaviour which is awesome!
I want to stress that changing behaviour and especially the way we think is incredibly hard so kudos to you Red. I think you should plan a nice reward for yourself this weekend to celebrate this
I am still making adjustments as far as the freeway goes..They never did put the trees in to cut down on the noise so we put up a fence and it is helping with the noise and other things...
I have found out that I after doing cbt for the last two years I have been able to make more adjustments in my life as time goes by. I call this challenging my anxious and negative thoughts.Yesterday a phone call came in and my partner was on the phone with one of his kids... Immediately my mind thought there must be a problem and started to go into overdrive..
I surprised myself and was able to take my mind off of the imagery problem and refocus on the project I was working on. I think this is what the educators call re framing here on the site..I am not sure? Any way I went back to what I was doing and made a lot of progress on my project last night..In fact I have noticed over the last few weeks that I am now doing this with lots of other things that have come up in my life..I don't seemed to get paralyzed with anxiety and panic anymore..I am able to think things out and re frame my thinking before things snowballed out of control...
Anyway this is how it has been progressing for me working the program here..I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that it is getting easier for them to make adjustments to things and situations in life since they have been doing the cbt program??
That is great news. Happy to hear that things are moving forward in your favor - with both the landscaping project and challenging your negative thoughts!
I just checked my email and I received a response for the complaint I filed via email. The said they will be starting the landscaping phase of the freeway project by mid August... Hip Hip Hooray!!! Challenging my anxious and negative thoughts is starting to pay off.....
Hi Red: Glad it's not as noisy as the first day. I like your idea of going to the planning offices to enquire about the trees. You sound like you have a good handle on it. Way to go.
Just thought I would let everyone know that I am adjusting to the freeway noise..I really didn't think I could do it but I am.....
I think it was just exceptional loud the first day because more people where on it trying it out because it was new...Now it's not bad at all for most of the day. I am planning on going by the planning office in the next few weeks to see if they are still going to plant trees and vegetation on the berm. We are waiting for a call from the person in change of this phase of the project..
Thank you all for your support and advice on this problem I am having..You give me strength and I take comfort in your words. The good thing about the Internet is that no matter what happens or where live I will be able to take all of you, this program and the forum with me. I have developed very special friendships here in the forum and would miss each and every one of you because you are all my friends. We come here from all over the world, we listen, we care about each other and support each other the best way we can.. This support and friendship is something no one can ever take away from us as long as we have this forum...I am so grateful for your friendship and for this program and forum...
You could research how others have dealt with the city creeping up with its highways on their doorstep.
Now I know what those boards are near the highway. They look interesting from the outside, and I guess they maintain the noise. Your challenge is getting the information, and getting them to deliver the goods. I would get something in writing, since the economic challenges mean somebody's going to try to be stingy.
Yes do it. Quietly and systematically without anger so it can't backfire on you. Treat it like a game you play over and over till you win, with patience and perseverance and I'm sure you will get what you want. You say it just opened, is it possible they need time to do the landscaping?
Anyway a reminder won't hurt will it. Besides it might be fun and if nothing it is social interaction, a form of exposure.
