I have relapsed

for 18 år siden 0 1150 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I'm smoking again after an 11 year quit. I've beens smoking the past three years with various baby attempts to quit stuck in there. I'm serious this time. I figure that once I get over the hump that I can at least do another 11 clean years. But, once that monkey latches on it's hard to get off your back. Quitting is a process. It took me a couple of years to be solid into the 11 year quit and I didn't start counting the 11 years until I was sure I wasn't a smoker, so I had a while there where I was a "smoker trying to quit". That's what I am now. Don't feel bad. Every minute that you are not smoking is a smoke free minute and soon they'll add up.

Hi All Have been missing the last couple of days because i have relapsed back into smoking after 8days ( and 1 slip ).Considering i dont know anyone here personally i still find it embarrassing to admit to it.By no means have i given up on quitting because every cig i have i hate but the demon has hold of me at the moment.Im going to set a quit date this weekend and stick with it this time I will be back sooner rather than later to start again and draw inspiration from the many great achievers here. super, you CAN do this! the best thing to do is to get right back to the quit, and not allow nicotine to get another hold on you, so please start to quit again now hugs lynnexx My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 244 Amount Saved: 64 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 51 Seconds: 16

I think we've all been there, Super. But you haven't given up, and that's the good thing. Make sure to have your quit date set, and really prepare for it. One day at a time. That's the best way to tackle this. Super, Pick yourself up, dust off, and try again. Remember what happened, how you were feeling, or what made you grab for the smoke. Revise your statigy, learn from mistakes. We all make them, in fact we grow stronger when we learn from them. This time keep your reasons for quiting close and bennifits closer....N.O.P.E Not One Puff Ever, Is the only way to beat nicomonster...You Can Do IT.. Super, Now you know why one "slip" is so deadly to a quit! Pick yourself up and try again. Here's a post I wrote about it at my 6 month mark thinking about slipping?. You CAN get back up and get over this, but you have to REALLY be ready to and have a plan in place for when you're about to smoke. Do you have a plan now? If not, make one. It should start with "Before I smoke, I must..." and then list at least 3 things you will do. They could be post and wait for 10 responses, call a friend who supports your quit, chat with a quit buddy, email a quit buddy and wait for a response, read your reasons for quitting 10 times, if you have kids - look at their faces for one minute, pray, etc... choose at least 3, or add some others that you think will work for you. Chances are, if you do all of that, the desire to smoke will fade because what you need is time to think "is this what I REALLY want?!?!" And chances are, the answer to that is "NO!!!!" So give yourself the time by doing some of these activities before you smoke. Welcome back! Crave the Quit! I'm glad that helped you. Your story does not have to be as bad as mine... I threw away 4 1/2 months trying to get it right. I wasted all that time and I wish I never smoked that first one. But, as the saying goes, never cry over spilled milk. What's done is done and all we can do is learn from the past. I hope that your recovery will be easy for you and that this will be your absolute last slip/relapse. Give yourself a couple days to regroup if you need to, but please, don't wait too long! Quit again while your will is still strong! Welcome back! Stick close to the site... I want to keep an eye on you! ;) Crave the Quit!
