I slipped yesterday

I just wanted to offer a couple of suggestions, Monica,I read your post and wondered how I could get thru your situation without smoking but I know it can be done. My best friend died of emphysema shortly before i quit and I told myself since I knew I was in for a world of misery I might as well throw in quitting and get something positive out of all the pain. But that's another story. I hear no mention of rewards. When it gets terribly bad GO SHOPPING. Even if you don't buy anything it's always a distraction. It doesn't have to be expensive but, of course, that's better.lol. Or a trip is good. I once rewarded myself with a puppy. Make a list and, if nothing else, it will take your mind off the pain for awhile. Also, before throwing away 50 plus days, you might want to talk to your md about this new drug called chantrix.....tricks your brain into not liking nic anymore.(I know that's an incorrect spelling. Trying for a little joke.) I know nothing about it but please try other options before you light up again. Lady is right.....quitting is too hard to do twice. Keep us posted on how you are doing. We care. Glad to see that inner strength coming out in you Monica. Your determination to beat this addiction is the key to your success. You will also find a lot of changes come with the quit. Changes for the better. Continue to move forward and don't let anything stand in your way. Freedom from the enslavement of smoking is getting closer and closer every day! Monica, I so understand what you are saying. Keep your chin up, keep your meter going and don't smoke anymore. Each time you introduce nicotine to your system, you are letting the addiction take control of you. Refuse to give in, no matter what. Prayers are with you today. Hang on tight. You can make it through. Monica, Do not give up the fight for your life. Your dad was so proud of you for being quit. Continue the journey and do not give in to the junkie within anymore. This is a tough time of year to lose someone. We have to focus on what is instead of what isn't. Is that easy? Nope! But we can make it through and win the battle. Smoking will kill you. That is about all it will do for you. Take some really deep breaths, keep taking your walks, keep crying your eyes out, and keep relying on that wonderful husband of yours to get you through all of this. You have already shown your strength to beat the addiction. Do not give up on yourself. You are worth the fight and will only regret smoking with each cigarette that touches your lips. It will bring you more depression not solutions. Emotions are tough. I've lost someone that was like my own child during this season. I have been quit a lot longer than you and I have actually thought of smoking. I understand exactly where you are coming from. I also know the feeling of freedom from the enslavement of smoking and that is what keeps me from lighting up. If I ever have just one, that is it for me. I will smoke until I die. Quitting is too hard. You have over 50 days on your meter. You may never get here again. Don't chance it. Get rid of any cigarettes, cry, kick, scream, break dishes, whatever it takes. Just don't smoke. There are so many around here that have watched you struggle through the loss of your dad. You are not alone, we are with you. Let us know how you are doing. Hang in there. You are stronger than the addiction. You've already proven that. Keep going. You have received some great advise from good people so say goodby to yesterday and just keep going forward. Believe me I know what is going on with your quit. Remember Pete? It took her 5 times to become a non smoker and everytime she failed I shed a tear for her but she just kept trying and finally made it happen. A slip is a slip and **** does indeed happen. Get up and brush yourself off and keep going. May the new year bring some joy and happiness to your life and make you a real winner :) Duffis My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 679 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20,380 Amount Saved: $1745.03 Life Gained: Days: 135 Hrs: 20 Mins: 56 Seconds: 48

Monica, forgive yourself and keep walking forward, one step at a time. Of course this is a difficult time for you, as it is for so many. We think that the holidays have to be some wonderful, magical time, but unfortunately they aren't always and then we end up suffering. But hang in there, girl, and maybe ask your neighbor not to give you any more cigarettes. it's up to you to do what you wish about the quit meter.....the slip???? Monica, there are only poor excuses to slip.....no matter how tough things are, it's the junky that gives you that kind of reasoning.....all that did happen could have happened the same with no cigarette....it didn't change a thing.....any feelings it did bring were negative? I would advise you to tell the neighbor that it isn't a favor to bum you smokes....tell them not to do that again. and you can come here and write when it makes NO sense....ABSOLUTELY no sense.....we have ALL been there.....someone will take your hand and help to straighten out your thinking. It's good to come clean....and this post isn't a scolding in any way. Hang tough now....DO come here first.....(and talk to that neighbor!) Christmas ((((hugs)))) hang tough Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1815 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 72,632 Amount Saved: $10345.5 Life Gained: Days: 236 Hrs: 20 Mins: 13 Seconds: 35
