The Q and A Game

I'm sorry I missed this in October. A46: The first day. I couldn't make a move without wanting to have a cigarette with it. I don't know if I can pinpoint the weirdest one? They all stunk. (Pun intended) Q47: What was the latest date into your quit that you doubted your decision to quit? A45: A trip to New Orleans Jazz Fest Q46: When did you start realizing craves or urges were triggered by specific types of events or times of day? And what was your weirdest trigger? A44: I think having fun is a huge part of life - smoking or not! We learn more when we are having fun, we burn calories laughing, we have a better outlook. And let's face it, sometimes we need a good distraction :) Q45: What has been your favorite or most meaningful reward? A43: yes, of course, eventually..but i think it is important to help those who are addicted when that decision is eventually made Q44: Do you think having fun during this quit process distracts from your success, or helps it? A-42! My friends are still my friends. Whem I smoked, the non smoking friends asked every week, "Are you still smoking? Haven't heard a word from them since I quit! The smokers, have been accepting so far, but I actually think there are still a couple who don't think I will succeed or don't want me to. But also, there are fewer and fewer smokers left out there! :) Q43: Do you think cigarettes should be removed from the shelves and the manufacturing shut down? After all they serve no purpose other than to addict and kill. I call those people soemthing else, but you go with "fortunate", Martha! A41: I'm so glad I got this one! It has absolutely 347% been worth it. My favourite part of being a non-smoker is the most surprising part: discovering that I actually was using smoking to hide from and avoid emotions and emotional situations! It has sometimes been really friggin hard to come to terms with feelings and handle emotions appropriately since I quit, but knowing myself better, being more honest with myself and letting others know the real, honest me, has been, and still is, such an amazing experience! It has not beem easy, don't ever think it has, and I have a lot of work to do yet, but worth it? What would not be worth getting a second chance to know yourself, discover what you think & how you feel, what you love, what you can give & what you need? AND get all the other awesome benefits of quitting? Are you kidding me, was it worth it???? OK, if anyone is still reading: Q42: Have your old smoking buddies stayed friends with you, have you developed some other kind of relationship with them, or are you dead to them? A40: I should probably not answer this one because my case is not typical. I gained 17 pounds the first month but I also ate everything that would fit into my mouth (and some things that didn't :8o:). Most people regain their metabolism at around 6 months. I have thyroid issues so am still working on it. There are others who maintain the same weight or even lose some pounds when they quit. Those people are called fortunate :) Q41: Has it all been worth it for you? What is your favorite part of being a non-smoker? *Sorry if this is a repeat* My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1164 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,280 Amount Saved: $5,238.00 Life Gained: Days: 88 Hrs: 21 Mins: 46 Seconds: 2
