Now I note your hobbies and from personal experience I can tell you that dancing or going to the gym would be a far better reaction to a breakup than smoking yourself to death. So go, chickadee, and re-set your meter or don't! It's your quit and you can handle it however you want to. Your lungs have started healing, there is a very large pile of cigarettes that you have not smoked, and you have saved a bucket of money. More importantly, you know you can do it! Thank you everyone for your kind comments - i feel all ready now to stop again. It is hard when going through a bad time as i am used to using it as my crutch really...but, i'm over it already and still, there have been hundreds of cigarettes i have not smoked. And there will be years of cigarettes i have not smoked. It is going to help that i'm busy tomorrow, going to someones house who does not smoke with my daughter and he would give me a hard time for smoking again so...that will help me get over my first none smoking day which will be the worst. And then i am where i was before really because the nicotine will be out of my body i think after 24 hours? Please don't beat yourself up. I know what that feels like and it doesn't do any good but make you feel worse. I almost lost it a few years ago when I slipped, I was really down on myself. You sound like a proud and independent individual, you will do this. Hey Fussy, pat yourself on the back. Give yourself a hug, dust off and come on back! I've done that 3 times this year already. You will do this! I had to revamp several times, but it is important to learn from your slips and plan a way out besides smoking for the next situation. Don't beat yourself up, you'll just keep smoking if you do that! Hi fussyone, Just wanting to send you a little message of support. Hoping you are still not beating yourself up about your slip. You know what triggered the slip - you mentioned you'd been going through a tough time. Splitting with a boyfriend is horrid enough without you having to make yourself feel worse. It's great that you are going to give it another go tomorrow. Be as positive as you can be about this. We all need to be strong when quitting any addiction, or indeed, quitting a relationship. Stay close to the wonderful people here - and they will guide you through the difficult first couple of weeks. Good luck - go for it! Your meter is yours, fussyone. It's completely up to you what you do with it. Don't be mad at yourself & stop feeling like an idiot. That won't accomplish anything excpet make yuo doubt yourself. Look at what caused you to slip, put a coping strategy in place for situations like that, take my hand & get right back on your quit. You know how to do this, you know you can do it, so let's get it done. Hey, Fussyone, If it's a slip of a day of smoking I'd clock back to zero - are you still smoking-slipping or was it for only a few days? Best thing is, keep up your honesty and faith in the programme and the members and get back on the horse right away unless you've already done so... And post once a day whether it's "Hi" or a Gettysburg Address. Stick with the non-smokers and the new quitters and let us talk you through it. You're way too young to let yourself be destroyed by tobacco ...
