How do we get new members to post?

First post!

One of my problems as a new member is knowing where to post.  My situation feels unique to me.

For three months, I have been experiencing mild panic attacks while trying to get to sleep at night.  I will get completely relaxed, and then this warm flush comes over my body and prevents me from falling asleep.  I know the source of the anxiety... part work related, part volunteer related, and part relationship/family related.  It got worse and worse until I got my PCP to prescribe Ambien and Lunesta (not simultaneously.)  Well, Ambien ended up sending me into a hysterical fit.  One NP and one pdoc later, I'm on Mirtazapene 30mg and Klonopin .5mg to sack me out at night and prevent the panic.

What forum would you think would be the best place to post this and see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?  I'm going to see a psych friday, so this site has been immensely helpful in getting me on the right track and keeping my panic diary.

Positive thought record? ABCD?

So, I just noticed an improvement in my mood.  According to the instructions, I need to do a thought record.

I can describe the activity, date and time, and I can describe my thoughts about the event, and rate my mood.

However, under "Distortions," am I supposed to assign a cognitive distortion to my positive event?  Or challenge my thoughts?

Honestly, if I think about my change in mood, I think that I am personalizing a situation that I shouldn't, but it's improving my mood.  Is that something I need to address?

Transitioning back to work

In my first-ever MDD, I was out for two weeks straight.  Luckily, my supervisor was very understanding and worked with HR to count it as FMLA leave.

Caden, I know what you're feeling, and it sounds like you will benefit from working through the CBT here.  I know it has helped me immensely.  You'll find ways of understanding the "non-invites," challenging your thoughts so that they aren't as threatening.

Work is kind of like food, we're all going to deal with it, and we can't really function without it, so we can't give it up cold turkey, nor can we binge on it.  Dealing with working with depression is something that is learnable, even with your three-year track record.
