Pushy boyfriend causing anxiety

I have been dating a man for the past year. We are both single parents and only spend time together on weekends. He has always tried forcing me to sleep over at his house, but I've only done so several times. I am just more comfortable at my own home. Always have been, its not so much because of my anxiety, its just how I am. My kids always have something going on or need rides, so its easier for me to be home. Today, he is making a huge deal of my not wanting to come over. Another things is, he isn't the type of person whom I feel especially safe with. No abuse lol. It's just that he's very chaotic and dramatic over every little thing and it makes me nervous. Does anyone else have relationship experiences that made their anxiety worse and any advice. I'm starting to think he and I aren't a great match even though he's super nice and has a big heart. I'm more mellow, he's more like a jack Russell terrier ha-ha.

Pushy boyfriend causing anxiety

I'm sorry, maybe it's just too early in the morning for me to make sense of things, but do you mean that it's clear I don't see a future with this guy and that I should end things? I've been thinking the same thing, but its hard for me to disappoint people or hurt their feelings so I haven't gotten the courage to do it. Although, he told me if I couldn't make myself come to his house Saturday night, not to call him anymore. I didn't, he hasnt called, so maybe he ended it for me. ??

Panic attacks after I eat

Yes, I most definitely get panicky if I drink coffee, take medicine. Also, if I eat lunch at work, I tend to get that mid afternoon sleepiness, and that will make me very anxious. Having to fight being tired while I make it through the rest of my work day.

Being Held Against My Will

I had driving phobia for years, and my mom, to keep me from losing my job, would follow me to work. I looked at it as her going out of her way to try to help me instead of enabling me to just quit driving. You have to take baby steps to get out of your comfort zone, and it seems your dad is trying to help you do that. You will be ok, he will be right there with you, and once you see that you can do it, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment, I promise. It may just give you the boost you need to start slowly driving alone and think of how that will open your world up. I spent several years being afraid to drive even a mile away alone. After my divorce, I had no choice. I still don't enjoy driving, but I love the fact that I can and will do it.

Saw my counselor today

I try to remind myself daily of the strength I have, but in the middle of a panic attack, its difficult to control my thoughts.

Driving

I had my very first panic attack while driving, since then I guess you'd say driving is one of my biggest triggers. I still drive daily, usually with no problem. Question though, I pretty much have to drive the same route everyday. Once u get about halfway between home and work, that's when the anxiety worsens. It's like in my mind, I'm too far from home, but not close enough to work. I feel out of my safe zones. I usually drive on through the anxiety, but its frustrating. Anyone else have to do this to be able to drive. I'd love to get out of my safe zone one day.

Hi from Middle East

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are feeling bad. I myself do not like big crowds. I work as a bartender, and at work I am outgoing and generally don't have anxiety. I think because I love making my customers smile. But if I dare go in a mall, grocery store etc, I immediately feel anxious. Im really glad you found this site, and hope that you will start the cbt program, I'm confident that it can help you feel better about yourself.

Hi there

I get where you are coming from. I will be panic free for a long time and then out of no where, they hit for no good reason. I don't hesitate to see my counselor or my gp to get that piece if mind. We do what it takes to make us feel better. Hope you really do enjoy your vacation!

What motivates you?

I am motivated by my children. To get up, go to work everyday, so that I can give them good lives. Their happiness is my motivation.

Driving

What are some ways you calm yourself down while driving when you get panicky? My first reaction is to turn around and go home, or call someone to get me. But I want to get out of being dependant on those coping techniques.
