I'm glad to hear you have a medicine that's working for you. I'm taking Lexapro, which is supposed to deal with both depression and the anxiety, but I haven't had it long enough for it to be having an effect quite yet. I have to take sleeping pills at night, because if I don't lay down in bed completely exhausted and seconds away from sleep, the fear and scary thoughts in my mind keep me awake. I think most of the time what I hear is what other people can hear, too. Usually I can't see what I'm hearing, but when I can, it helps because then I know the noise is just a helicopter or airplane, and not anything scary that my imagination came up with.

Hi Jolty thankyou for your reply,do you take anything for your anxiety my amytripylene have a sedative effect in it so i sleep better at night. you know you describe these loud noises you hear, can you actually see the plane, bus ect, or can you just heat them? the reason i ask is that i suffer from a condition called tinnitus, there are noises that i can hear but no one else can, it is not imagined but a real medical condtion,i hear hellicoptor noises and truck sounds, i am under a tnt clinic, it might be worth checking it out, i hope you go on alright cadge

Hi, Cadge. I have problems with my anxiety, too. I'm surprised; I didn't think it was usually connected with depression. I sometimes stay up very late at night because of the fear. A little while ago I couldn't sleep just because I kept hearing train noises outside and thought it was something bad happening. I also have problems with jets flying overhead; I've actually had several occasions where I have ran home from the bus stop, covering my ears because I heard the loud noises. Relaxing CDs can definitely help. I've got one that has ocean noises with soft music playing in the background. It's very nice with all the natural, peaceful sounds. One things I also found helped a couple times was just sitting and focusing deeply on dispelling the fear, pushing it out of my heart and mind. That, and taking lots of deep breaths. I can understand that anxieties and fears are a major problem to deal with, especially when you're already down with depression. I encourage you not to keep trying your best, because no one deserves to have those bad feelings taking command over your everyday life. Best of luck to you! :)

Hi Tzumommy, thankyou for your reply i have got a cd of relaxing music, but when im going through a bad time i cant sit still long enough, everything inside is just go go go, and i feel horrible, lightheaded and strange, the thing is that i dont get anxious about life situations its like endogenous, which can make it difficult to explain how can you tell someone that you want to run away from yourself and the fear is there nomatter how hard you try, i do know that in time however long that might be,that ill begin to come up and find myself feeling much calmer and happier, this is the first time i have ever been able to communicate with people likeminded i can tell from the posts i think we speak a launguage of our own, take care cadge

Cadge: I think a lot of depression sufferers also have anxiety problems. I do, and it's exactly like you described: it's almost always present and I find it difficult to relax much of the time. I wish I had an "off switch" for my head, sometimes. Sometimes it just feels like my body is shot through with an electrical charge and humming like a power line. When it's really bad, I do deep breathing exercises to "take the edge off" and calm myself a little. When it's bad, I have to consciously tell myself that it's "just anxiety" and that it can't hurt me. I also find things like wrapping myself up in a comforter and listening to classical music helpful. I also bought a wooden rocking chair and will sometimes just rock in it. Do you have anything like that that can help soothe you when you're really feeling like it's unbearable? Tzumommy
