Hang in there Sue. I had to reset after two days. I know how you feel. I ended up going out with some friends to the bar, and wouldn't you know those vodka and cranberries tasted so much better with a cig! :eg: I felt horrible the next day and to my surprise I didn't have any cigs left or any reason to leave the house. I cleaned, worked on crafts, laundary, baked and napped that whole day in a very eractic order. I cant believe i have to start my quit all over again!! Tough love here. First, stop thinking of yourself as a victim and work the program that's outlined on the left. Although none of us wakes up saying, I want to be an addict. We do have to choose whether or not to smoke. Sometimes are slips are just practice, but realize that not everyone is going to be willing to practice with you. Reintroduce yourself to the world, when you're ready to just "act as if you are a nonsmoker." Tuzer 64, the patch just takes off the edge, it won't stop you from smoking, you stop you ,from smoking, you make the decsion not to smoke and stick to it, for the first days I kept really busy, so I wouldn't have time to think, drank 4 bottles of water a day (8 glasses) chewed straws, gum, mints, licorice etc. You will get through this one day at a time. Sue, You are an addict and smoking has a hold on you. One of the things that helps me to stay quit is that I don't ever want to go back to the enslavement of smoking. I didn't realize until I quit how much smoking controlled my life. I have since taken my life back from the addiction and you can do the same. Take really deep breaths and take it one day at a time. The past is gone and today is a new day. Today you don't smoke and that is all that matters. Quitting is a choice you have made not a life sentence. It is a wise choice. You quit because you want to not because you have to. You "could" keep smoking and just suffer the health issues that accompany that choice, people do it every day. You want to break free. You cup is 1/2 full not 1/2 empty. You CAN do this! One step at a time using N.O.P.E. (Not one puff ever). That is how we all quit. ok...you are hardly making it out of the gate when you fall.....just a few questions......[u]what[/u] are you doing when you 'choose' to light up?? [u]where[/u] are you when you light up?? [u]how[/u] do you have access to the cigs?? [u]who[/u] are you with when you light up?? [u]why[/u] does lighting up become a 'choice'?? Let's get the answers to these questions and then set in motion a plan that AVOIDS the answer to each instance.....or at least has an ESCAPE route for each instance. post back....tell us how you are going to avoid this stumble in the next race?? quitting involves making the choice to not smoke and then avoiding the pitfalls that will lead to negating that choice. here's a story that we used to use a lot Five Short Chapters on Change by: Author Unknown, Source Unknown Chapter 1 I walk down a street and there's a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. It takes forever to get out. It's my fault. Chapter 2 I walk down the same street. I fall in the hole again. It still takes a long time to get out. It's not my fault. Chapter 3 I walk down the same street. I fall in the hole again. It's becoming a habit. It is my fault. I get out immediately. Chapter 4. I walk down the same street and see the deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. Chapter 5. I walk down a different street. Get your game plan....then stick to it! I KNOW you can succeed!
