Oh Cheer, I'm so sorry this happened to you. It must feel like you have no control! But in reality, it's that you DO have control, you ARE choosing to be non smoking, and it is, always was, and always will be your choice! People will say for them that smoking is not an option, but I have to acknowledge that it's always an option for me, and I choose not to exercise that option. I choose freedom, and so did you! And remember when you were smoking and all you wanted was to quit? Don't ever go back there, so many people never make it back to the committment that you have obviously made to make it to 145 days!!! You are AWESOME! Don't ever sell yourself short! I wonder if this will happen for awhile. On the weekend we were having drinks and my hubby and brother-in-law were going out to garage for smokes. I didn't crave a smoke...but a little bit of my was jealous...and I have no idea why........I HATED going outside to smoke...I hated coming back in and smelling like smoke and I hated the fact that, when I was drinking, I wanted to go out 10 mins later for another one but couldn't because everybody would notice how much I smoked. I really think I should write down all the reasons that I hated smoking so I don't forget....because I honestly get those feelings too even when they don't make sense. As for the "Slap", you'll have to ask Cyber....but he will help whip ya back into shape no problem! You are doing so well....not only do you not want to go through hell week and heck week....you never want to be controlled by this addiction again! 145 days is amazing...please don't ever give up the gift you have given yourself. Hey Cheermom, hang in there. I understand that jealousy factor. My hubby does too! We've both been there, at different times. Hubby quit nearly 2 years ago, and at that time I lost my quit. He said the same thing. How come you can smoke and I can't? Two different quits. And isn't often said we want what we can't have. Perhaps if you told yourself you're CHOOSING not to smoke, it might just take that "can't have" stigma away. This will pass as well. Hang in there. I am right there with you and have gone through the same with my hubby. I have even told him "since he is smoking then I will too" and I just cannot light up. When it comes down to it, it is about me...this is my quit. There is nothing I can do about him but I have no desire to smoke :) I go to regular check up's with my Doc for meds to deal with my anxiety and depression. I have put on 15lbs and I just do not want to go back to smoking. Hang in there this is your quit!!!! Your situation in reverse--- My husband and I quit together and I relapsed. Snuck around for awhile, even though he knew...he had to! I really do want to quit smoking, and am having a much, much, harder time than my husband had. Don't allow your husbands smoking to make you spiral downward. Stay strong. Be supportive of him as well. He may jump back in there and follow your lead..... Sending hugs and wishes your way...I've been 'zapped' lately myself...Perhaps we need a little 're-charging' on the cruise ship!.. Wow this is a great post. I can only address what it feels like to be the smoker. About three and half years ago I made my first attempt at quitting. My husband thought he would try so it would be eaiser for me. Long story short he is still smoke free and has watched me quit over and over again. He never gave me any grief over my returns to smoking. He supported me when I would try and quit and he supported me when I returned to smoking. He knows that the quit will belong to me and there was nothing he could do for me to make me stop. He saw all the hell I went though quitting and starting, but he never, never, judge me. In time maybe your husband will try again. In the mean time you have a great quit going. Beleive he knows. Keep the quit. Well, that's how I feel right this very moment and have all weekend HELP! is about all I can say. I can't get out of this mind set and maybe I need someone here to smack me aside the head and give me some advice. Well, try not to smack me too hard. :8o: Is how I've been feeling for two entire days. Why do I have it in my mind that I feel I can't smoke. Wait.... Let me explain first. My husband and I quit together. He started this past August and I just found out 3 weeks ago (even though I could smell it, he denied it). Now, why do I feel like I can't smoke and he can??? I know I can smoke if I wanted too but I feel like I can't. What is wrong with me? I have 145 days and am still a complete ummm, not going to say the word.....Maybe its because well, hell week is enough for me to not ever want to go through that twice. I have never felt controlled like this. I dont want to smoke and I think I would feel better and move on with my quit if I could just get past the "I can't smoke but you can" attitude. What a big baby I am acting..... BREATHE. Ok Please give me ideas to get passed this "bump" in the road as I think this is also not helping with my depression. I sure hope this made sense because well BREATH I am forgetting to BREATH when I type. Thanks to all of you for your advice and for being blunt when needed. I dont like when people hold back because then I really dont snap back to reality. Phil, I can handle shooting him (lol not) I just hug him and keep telling myself that at least one of us doesn't stink. ;) The kids hug me longer and I know why. I just said a pray this morning that I need to focus on me and my quit instead of everyone else. Tonight is Halloween and my entire family smokes. I will be outside because they smoke inside. It actually doesn't bother me to see them because I know I dont live with them. It does with my hubby but I do love him the same. I also read my reasons for quitting (and there are many). Thanks to all because I really needed re-focusing. I want to be around for my kids as my oldest is 18 and my youngest is 6 (and one inbetween lol). I also read in a post that ex-smokers nag nag nag. WEll, thank you to the one who posted about that (I think it was Phil). I WAS one of those ex-smoker naggers to my hubby. Last night I sat him down and basically said, "Dont lie to me about where you are going, just tell me you need a smoke and go". Told him he doesn't need my permission to smoke. heck I can smell it on him afterwards. Anyways, I told him that I love him the way he is and I know deep down he wants to quit because he does notice I breathe somewhat better and I'm more active. Sorry for the long-drawn-out speech. Just hugs to everyone. It has been a long 146 day journey but one I wouldn't give up. KEEP THE QUIT!!!
