Hi goofy Thanks for your support. I'm on the patch so I'm still getting nicotine in my system but very little and getting cravings frequently but I'm fighting them off one by one. It's getting a little easier. I think having been quit for 10 days not too long ago has helped. It's more psychological for me than anything else as far as I'm concerned. The addiction is a mindset so to speak. Just got to change the frame of thought which I'm working on. I'm looking forward to Day 4. Just checked out these two "newbies" Gin, and Azure...you guys have found each other and 3 days is incredible! Now the nicotine is about out of your system, and you're well on your way to the first week. We've got a big bunch of friends from the "Great White North" quitting in the last few months, and that is great. I've just got to say that I'm glad I'll never have to shovel snow again as long as I live. You guys rock. Keep it up. Really good chocolate, President's choice maple butter fudge, cheesecake, plain Lays potato chips, I could go on and on! I reward myself daily with a couple of nibbles of any of the above. And I do mean a couple of nibbles, 'cause if I started down that road, I'd have to sign up for a weight loss forum in the spring :p I also started using my husband's veggie juicer (he hasn't used it in years), and I've found I quite like the taste of "cucumber/carrot/celery/ginger/whateve other veggies are in the fridge" juice. It gives me a real energy boost mid afternoon and gives me the will to say "nope" to any cravings. Stay strong, and enjoy that drink at Betty's. Hey Gin, I don't know if craving sweets is part of being quit, but I do know that I ate a lot of chocolate covered peanuts and I even read an article that said chocolate is a good quit aid, so dive in! (The peanuts have protein and when eaten at 10:00 am and 2 pm keep your blood sugar level!) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 276 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,900 Amount Saved: $2,911.80 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 18 Mins: 20 Seconds: 40

BTW, I'm going over to my friend Betty's place tomorrow after supper. Going to have a few drinks. Looking forward to that and it will be my reward. Drinking doesn't trigger my cravings...it lessens them actually. Yeah, Azure. I watched people standing outside last night having a smoke. I sure was glad it wasn't me. It was cold out there last night. I'm having a terrible craving right now and I hope it goes away in a while. Decided to come here and get some positive reinforcement. It's great. I've been craving sweets. Is that part of the quit? Gin, Your doing great. Each day you say NO brings a deeper confidence that it is really do-able. Don't forget your rewards. I don't know what it is about them...but they WORK!! It just takes something little.....like a carmel latte...or "HERSHEY BAR"!! Hey, Gin look at you :) day three. Now I want you to go out and buy yourself a little something. Some candy, a cup of coffee, or a cookie. You have earned a reward. Look in the mirror and remind yourself that you are doing it, you have quit smoking!!
