Thanks Arteest. Reassurance is key with me. After I go to my doctor I usually feel a million times more confident and safe with having to take something. I hope she makes me feel better about taking the lexapro so I actually do take it this time. She is probably sick of me and my going back and forth with the lexapro but I am serious about it this time LOL! Anyways, thanks for the support. ~Isabella~

Isabella, Congratulations on making it to class! That's a biggie. I understand the concerns you have about taking new meds, but you also need to remember (very, very, rarely) does a doctor give someone something that would do them harm. Mine has to remind me of that EVERY single time I get new medicine. It's the condition taking control again, making you think things that aren't true or are VERY far fetched! Keep up the good work. Diva and Roro, Thank you so much for the advice! I really want to start the meds and give them a try because so many people think that it could really help me and I am starting to get to the point where I will do anything to be "normal" or atleast functional again. I am nearing the end of my schooling and will need to get a job in my field and right now I know I couldn't do it because I can barely make it to a two hour class. I think the meds could really help me feel better the quickest. I just have to overcome the fear of taking them. I am going to make an appointment with my doctor to discuss my concerns and then I am going to do it as long as I stay off the internet and side effect sites LOL! Thanks for the encouragement and great advice! ~Isabella~

Just to give you my thoughts... everyone is different. I was sooooo scared of taking the meds! I already felt like I was going crazy and the last thing I need is to take a pill that I have no control over. My anxiety was over the top. Just horrible! When I started to taking the meds I did have bad side effects for about a week BUT here I am a few weeks later and its like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. My anxiety has gone from a 10 to a 2/3. I am doing a lot of other stuff to get well but those horrible what ifs are gone.... Thank G-d. I feel so much more hopeful that I can have my life back. So... I would have been the last person to say take pills a month ago but I can tell you that they have really helped me dramatically. Do what you need to do for yourself. Breathe!!!

First, i want to say woohoo, you go girl! you can do this! that is so great and i am so proud of you! you must be very proud of yourself! fantastic! congratulations on a great success. As for the taking new meds.... Ok this might sound ridiculous and i can't beleive i am saying this but i have the same problem and depending on how scared i am i have developped two very odd ways of dealing with this. The first one for when i am more scared is to take it early on a morning where i know i have somebody with me all day. And i have that person stay with me at all times and even sleep in my house, in my room next to me. So i have round the clock surveillance for 24 hours. I figure if nothing happened in 24 hours, i will be fine. If one is to have a violent reaction, one would think it would be in the first 24 hours. So i figure with somebody with me at all times there is somebody there to cal 911 for me and save me lol. The other way for when i am less scared is to have the phone with me at all times for 24 hours. I keep it with me and I figure that way i can dial 911 if there is a problem. That makes me feel better, knowing i won't have to run to the phone if i don't feel good. Anyway, that is just my way of coping. I haven't used those methods in a long long time. The last time i took new medecine was a year ago and i just kinda took it and didn't think about it lol even tho i tend to be easily allergic hehehe. But before that, the two tricks i told you really worked well for me. It made me feel silly to ask somebody to watch me for 24 hours but it got me taking the medecine and the medecine helped so i figured what is a bit of embarassment lol. Thing is eventually i was able to take new meds without tricks. But that was a year ago lol who knows how i would fare this year hehe Anyway, the lexapro thing is your call! Once again congratulations on a great success! -Diva

Thank you guys soooo much for all of your advice and support. It really made me feel better. And the great news is that I made it to class today and got through it! I was dizzy, super anxious, nauseous, and very tense but I got through it and I didn't die LOL! I am happy that I got through it and I feel better about it now. As for starting the lexapro, I am trying to work myself up to taking it but I worry about having an allergic reaction, having some rare and deadly side effect, or side effects in general. My mom has MS and suffers from anxiety as well and she started it recently and was very sick for the first week and a half but stuck it out and it has really helped her,she said. This really makes me want to try it because her and I are alot alike, we are the only two anxiety sufferers and health fanatics and worriers, etc. Also, my psychologist and doctor think I would really benefit from taking it along with cognitive behavioral therapy and this website. I just need to work up the nerve to take that first pill. Any suggestions on how to make myself take meds would be great LOL. Anyways, thanks again. ~Isabella~

Isabella, everyone has given you great advice. I too have a hard time congratulating myself on the "small" steps. But they're right!! Just getting up, getting ready, driving yourself to class and even walking up the steps are great!!! So you didn't make it in, you will when you're ready!!! Just keep getting up everyday and that in itself is a positive when dealing with anxiety!!!!

Isabella, I hope you're day is better today. I'm taking Lexapro as well. I just started it a few weeks ago and the only thing I noticed was a bit of nausea at the start. But even that's gone now. I hope it works for you. One day at a time. That's all I do. And on REALLY bad days, it's one THING at a time. Good luck with school. And you're most welcome. :) Arteest
