The Mood Tracker

for 10 år siden 0 1 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
You know what would be great for the mood tracker? Some device to track what day of your menstrual cycle you r on for those of us who also have PMS exacerbating an underlying mood disorder. Sometimes I don't know if my depression is worsening or if it's hormonal fluctuations. For me, anything after day 14 of my cycle could be PMS related. I am noting this in observations now, but it would be nice to have a separate category.

Hello Eleveno, Thank you for the kind words. I'm encourage to know that improvement can be made through practice. I've just completed session 3 and I find I'm still going to need to use the activity tracker in order to recognize a change in mood. I've operated on autopilot for a long time and learned not to pay attention to how I'm feeling. Rather adjusted myself to my moods by isolated or sleeping. I find it interesting how much exercise and nutrition impact how I feel. Nanomay

You are right Nanomay. It is a question of practice :)
It is perfectly normal  for depression levels to change during the day.
You could estimate your average depression for the day and put it
on the mood tracker tool, it is not necessary to be perfect :)
Keep the work with this tool since it is the
foundation of CBT. Good job!

Hi ~ I like using the mood tracker and in doing so I've discovered that I have a fairly consistent pattern of high and low through out the day. The one thing that I'll need to practice is figuring out the actual level of depression. I imagine this will come with practice. Nanomay

It could be.

Is the information I input in the mood tracker ever used for research purposes?

I think the mood tracker is great. Before I started using it, I tried to monitor my overall daily mood in a journal on a scale of three (good, moderate, bad), but I would often neglect for days at a time. With the mood tracker, there is an obvious gap when I miss a day, so I am more likely to be consistent about reporting my mood.

I like how the simple interface produces a nice visual graph, so I can detect trends (e.g my depression seems to be lowest on weekends and highest in the middle of the week). I also find it helpful that I can make notes about my day, my moods and my negative (or positive) thoughts.

Since I do not take medication, I sometimes wish that there were boxes to monitor my other therapeutic activities, like meditation and physical exercise.  I do track theses things on a separate piece of paper, but it would be nice to have them all in one place!

Have you tried using the mood tracker yet?  Marking it daily is a good habit to get into... especially when the despair is running rampant.  It also is a precursor to other more complete mood trackers you will be asked to do as you progress through the sessions.
A good way to get started!

The mood tracker is a great tool as it makes us reflect. It also let's me see day to day things that have negative impacts. If waking up at 6 gives me anxiety why not wake up at 5 am. If I see the same force everyday I need to embrace it, understand it and then accept it. Moving on. Numaseven
