Jan, you were one of the first people on this site to welcome me and give me support and encouragement - and you hadn't even quit yet! So I watched for your posts and it was neat, seeing you work up to the BIG day... and then you did it!! You quit and made it through your fist day!! Then it was two days, then three... and now it's NINE! Holy cow, you're doing GREAT! You are SO much stronger than this addiction! It will be very cool, on January 1st, 2008, to come here and celebrate my first year anniversary... AND I'm gonna hang around for twelve more days and watch you slide into home plate right behind me. =D My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 621 Amount Saved: $60 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 10 Seconds: 51

Right there with you Jan58. Sounds like you've got a handle on it, though that doesn't make it easy. Sending peaceful thoughts your way today to compliment your strength. Hi Jan - Good for you - Nothing better than a good hissy fit...If I didnt already spend 2 hours on the road, I'd drive on down and have a fit with you! (2 hissy fits are better than one, aren't they?) This is a rough ride at times but you are doing sooooooooo well! Keep up the good work! Thanks guys, I really had a rough go tonight, but I talked my way through it, and now all is fine. Its just me beating another crave or "moment" as the case may be. I'm sure I can expect some more, HOWEVER, in amongst this are some good moments too! Like, I'm proud of myself, my clothes don't smell anymore, my mouth feels cleaner, food tastes better(don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing!). I'll let you know whether I got to be the murderer this time!!! Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 296 Amount Saved: $81 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 40 Seconds: 47

I have to agree with you there, Gonna. Those choices certainly don't look too rosy!!!! Good thing. When you think of smoking in those terms, you don't miss any of it. 3/4 through DAY 10 and I'm motoring right along. I've had a few situational moments where you automatically want to reach for that pack and its not there. But I've taken up Sparky's advice and armed myself with a rubber band around my wrist. And yes, it smarts when you give it a good flick! Feeling better today, but see, its not the weekend now, and right now I have a better time dealing with weekdays. The weekends will come. I have a murder mystery to look forward to this Saturday night. No one smokes, so that's a bonus. We've been doing these murder mysteries for the past 10 years and NOT once have I been the murderer. I think that should be my reward for not smoking! Don't you? Please...let me be the murderer! Anyhow, have a good one, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 290 Amount Saved: $81 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 8 Seconds: 21

Into my 9th day, while I don't actually crave a cigarette, or feel what I believe to be withdrawal symptoms, today is difficult. I don't want to smoke, I don't know what I want to do. Another post sums it up well. I feel empty. I understand the cause, as well as understanding that this does pass. Its tough, but I still won't smoke. I want to scream and shout, sob and sleep. This too shall pass, its all part of the process. Am I mourning the passing of my smoking habit, the one that held me prisoner for nearly 25 years? Yes. I won't lie, I miss it. But still, I won't smoke. This does get easier. Casey, John W., Lady, and imallclear, Thanks for the replies. I plan to shout and jump up and down all I want to! What a wonderful stress reliever. I definitely need that right now. And Lady, the piece from golferman's post is right on the money. A relationship with smoking is like an abusive relationship, in fact it IS an abusive relationship. So yeah, today is a challenge. Challenge??? Who am I kidding. Today is hell and I deserve to jump up and down in a well deserved hissy fit! But will I smoke? Nope. Not a chance. Windy, SammieJo, and Pat, Thanks soooo much for the vote of confidence. It really helps me stay on track. In fact, today was challeng...nah! let's be truthful. Today was a day from hell. But here I am, at the end of the day, smoke free. I made it through. If tomorrow's a rough one, I'm throwing a hissy fit party, and all are invited!!!! Have a good night, Cheer, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 266 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 1 Seconds: 45
