Quote of the day

The weather has been unseasonable warm where I live the last few days.We have been having frost at night and getting up to white roof tops in the morning. Some of the plants and the lawn have been burned from the frost.. In contrast the days have be warming up into the high 70's and low 80's this week. Not sure if I should put on a jacket or a pair of shorts. The weather sure seems to be changing in my neck of the woods. I wonder if it is global warming or a ice age. It is confusing that is for sure. I am not going to complaint or fret about it though because I am enjoying the warm weather to much to care...

I want to congratulate you on all your hard work and success and for never giving up on your self..You story is a true inspiration. I really enjoyed reading your story and could relate to so much of it..Especially the part about the past..It really felt good to hear you say you are now living instead of just existing...I feel that way too...Also thanks for the tip on the book. I am going to see if I can get it as a e book..

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Last month was been a very busy month for me here at home with lots of exposure and goals accomplished..I had the roof replaced, the overhangs repainted on the house and put up a fence last month and a tree taken out this week..I let people on my property to do some of this work which was a major accomplishment for me..My partner painted the overhangs himself put up a fence and we had someone remove a large tree for us..We removed the two smaller sick trees ourselves. Everything came out fine and I am really happy we are finally finished with the renovations on the house..I may due a little painting on the patio later this year.
 
Right now I am looking forward to resting up and just relaxing for a few days. After that it will be time to get ready for our annual camping trip across country to Arizona where we will be relaxing in the wide open spaces with just us and the wildlife and of course the beautiful sunrises and sunsets..They have one of the largest swap meets in the world there and there will be lots of treasures to look for. My passion is old rusty stuff and things from the prairie and of course antique sewing machines.
Oh ya! we will also be stopping and showing antique farm engine in our clubs annual antique farm engine and tractor show on the way home....
Seven years ago I never would of thought I would have been able to travel across country, would of panicked in the crowds at the swap meets, and never have been able to let people on my property or in my house, but I have proven myself wrong. I was able to do all things with a lots of help and am so glad I got past my panic and fears and did them all. 
 
This has been a extraordinary year for me....

Interruptions and getting stir crazy

Hi Hugs,

I am one of those people that works best when doing one task at a time..Life's interruptions can throw me off and I get very frazzled and tired..It has taken me a long long time to get the things done that I wanted to get done. I do find getting back on track very difficult at times..Even so any progress is better than no progress right!! That's what I have to remember to keep telling myself..Positive self talk really helps me in time like this..

Interruptions and getting stir crazy

Breaking down tasks into smaller ones took me some time to learn how to do..What I came to realize is that I can not expect to complete a task in lighting speed and that is ok if it takes longer than I anticipated. I used to try to clean the house from top to bottom in a day, that was my "all or nothing" thinking talking. I began to realize as I got older and a bit disabled that I did not need to get it all done in a day anymore, for what, why wear myself out. This would be self destructive. So I started to let up on myself a little. I have also learned how to ask for help and if need be, to hire out and get the help I need. This was a real biggie admitting I needed help and could not do everything myself. I starting renovating my home 6 yrs ago and this required lots of research and hiring contractors to do the work. First I decided what needed to be done first and went from there. First I had to get physically well enough to work on this project, this took over a year. Then I slowly but surely started going through my and my late husband belonging and paper work and began the process of getting rid of things I didn't really need anymore. I spend days shredding paper and then would take a break for a few days and do a little more. This whole process took me about another year. Than I began the process of hiring people to work on my house. The one thing I learned from this process is that Rome wasn't build in a day and so it would be with this project.  The other thing I learned is patience and that I needed to take breaks in between different part of the renovations. I have finally come to the end of this project 6 yrs from the day I started. I am sure I will still have some things to do here and there as problems arise as they do sometimes. One thing I have learned from it all is that I am capable of hiring and supervising people if necessary and that all things in life worth doing need to be broken down into smaller steps in order to get them done....

Overcompensation and Seeking Control

I was attacked by a Sexual Predator 37 years ago and survived..This attack has had a profound affect on my life..This is why I am so hyper vigilant and why it has been so hard for me to let strangers on my property or in my home to work..I am also very hyper vigilant when outdoors too, especially in places where there are not others around. My attack happened outdoors at night when I was walking alone. In this day and age it is hard for me not to be hyper vigilant..

Just thought I would bring it to your attention that this is the panic center..We are not trying to quitting smoking or drinking like two of the sister sites but I guess we are trying to quit panicing so I get we are quitting so to speak.
